Sweeeetttt! Now I can watch it live from my iPad.. I've always disliked it that you weren't able to watch the keynote until after all the news was spread out over the web..

I hope they continue to do this with all their press events from now on.

Thank you Apple!

It seems there are one of two possibilities:

1) They have something really big to announce tomorrow and they want to really hype it up

2) They want to demo something that requires WiFi and don't want the entire WiFi system to be brought down by hundreds of bloggers

I'm guessing (2) could be averted by setting up a private WiFi network with security enabled -- so here is hoping for #1.

Also, I'm curious if for some reason Safari running on a PC will not be able to support the live video stream? Or for that matter, do other browsers not yet support this open standard for Live Streaming over HTTP? It could be they are saying Mac, iPhone or iPad just to tout their products, but I can't imagine a user-agent check being used when they so proudly say "Open".

This is really awesome but it's interesting that they'd set such requirements. Maybe if they introduce a streaming service it'll only be compatible with those devices? But why would you want to stream to a PC anyway? and Android has never had anything to do with itunes anyway...

It'd also be cool if they announced they were streaming the keynote with the same service they were going to stream itunes with (just like when SJ said he was the keynote software's beta tester).

IF ANY USER IS IN THE UK, I BELIEVE YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE STREAM ON THE US SITE, NOT THE UK ONE!!!

No announcements have been made on the Apple's UK Site... :(

I just hope people from the UK can watch it on Apple's US Site

Wow, the last time they streamed a live "keynote" type event, i got to watch steve jobs' blocky pixelated head freeze every 5 seconds as the audio stuttered along with or without the picture :) And by now they must have a few times more customers that might be interested in tuning in.

Should be a great test of the state of their streaming / advances in bandwidth since then...

What in the land of living animals are you jabbering on about?

He's talking about Apple maybe making the streaming available only in the US (ex. Hulu and some other video streaming sites). I don't see why Apple would filter out non-US users for this feed.

Clearly they are going to show off that they can stream smoothly without bending under a very heavy load. Maybe these will be the first streams sent via the new data center.

If the live stream breaks down, their face will be extremely red. They know this, so it won't break down. It's going to be a very good tech demo!

I hope they don't filter out the British citizens, their coool :)

Otherwise i have to go back to EnGadget for the boring old Blog :(

Well you can blame Microsoft for that not Apple.
HTML5 is open.

Chrome supports HTML5. Safari on PC supports HTML5. It's up to the browser to support HTML5, not the operating system. I do blame Apple for not allowing other platforms to view the stream.

Open standards but Mac only? Give me a break. I have a MBP but won't be able to watch on the Windows machines at work. This is stupid.

Maybe it's their way of limiting server load if they're not ready to handle it. This is their first major simulcast in a long time, after all. You could try huddling around someone's iPhone if you don't have one.

I hope AT&T network holds up...

It will ;)

Doesn't Safari for Windows do HTML5?

It might but the core of Windows 7 doesn't have all the components needed yet. From what I've been testing on IE9 it's still not fully compliant so I think it has to do with Java etc.

Oh and also Microsoft is pushing it's Silverlight plug-in so it could be MS decided it didn't want to partake.
