so, im from mexico, and at what time can i see the live video? on apple.com?? can someone tell mee.. cause i have a BIG issue with GMT and UTM and WTF !! jajajajajajaj

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_Live_Streaming:
implemented by Apple Inc. as part of their QuickTime X and iPhone software systems.

So yea, only works on Snow Leopard because of QuickTime X (PCs are still stuck with Quicktime 7 iirc), and it also works on devices that run iOS 3.0 or later because that's where Apple implemented the tech.

All these devices have Safari but I'm not sure if (or why) that actually matters. Don't other browsers on these devices utilize the same QuickTime X plug-in?

To everyone talking about HTML5 video, that's not the issue. They are using Live HTTP streaming, a technology Apple created for doing scaling live video over the HTTP protocol. As far as I know, no player/browser on Windows supports it. Apple needs to update Quicktime for Windows.

I think the live streaming is a sign of things to come, via itunes streaming.

Makes perfect :apple: sense.

HTTP Live Streaming is its own protocol, separate from HTML 5.

1:00 PM for EST right?
Actually 1pm Eastern Daylight Time, not Standard. Fortunately, in practice only a computer might actually get confused, if it tried to honor your request exactly. It would be an hour late.

Showing off the power of their data center?
Han will have that shield down. We've got to give him more time!

I have Journalism and English tomorrow during the time the Keynote will be on... And of course my school has the wi-fi access filtered by Mac Address, and while I've circumvented that on my Mac (sudo ifconfig eth1), I haven't worked out doing it on my iPod touch.

Guess I'll be refreshing the Engadget page from my Kindle or my phone...

My biggest hope is really that they'll do a quite bump to their Airport Extreme/Time Capsule. Don't even have to talk about it in the keynote, but if they're updating everything else...

Gosh I should read the thread first I guess. I agree it will have something to do with the server farm.

Prediction!

I bet the server farm in North Carolina is serving up the video and they will announce their plans on using the server farm while streaming it.

To everyone with problems with the exact hour:

Just look at the homepage of macrumors. The remaining hours and minutes are shown. Calculate from there, then you're always right.

Example:
When I write this message, it's 2 o'clock in the night in West Europe.
At the homepage, it says only 17 hours left.

So 2.00h + 17.00h = 19.00h. Meaning at 7 o'clock in the evening in my time zone, I have to start watching at Apple's site. Calculate it for your own.

Have fun! ;)

So... I'm just kinda thinkin' the fact that they are doing this... Makes me think big news is coming... news i've been waiting 3 years to hear. :D

Made my day. lol.
