Apple plans to mark the iPhone 5c as an obsolete product next month, according to a memo obtained by MacRumors.

Apple marked the iPhone 5c as a vintage product in October 2020, which meant the company and its service providers could only provide certain repairs for the product, subject to part availability. On November 1, Apple will mark the iPhone 5c as an obsolete product, ending all repairs and services, according to a memo sent out today to authorized service providers. Apple also said in the memo it would mark the third-generation iPad mini with Wi-Fi and TD-LTE as obsolete on the same day.

The iPhone 5c was an iconic iPhone released alongside the iPhone 5s in September 2013. The iPhone 5c was the first to be offered in a series of bright and vibrant colors, including blue, green, pink, yellow, and white, in an "unapologetically plastic" design. The iPhone 5c also marked the first time Apple had released a lower-end iPhone model aimed at budget-conscious customers, with pricing for the 16GB model starting at $99 with a two-year contract in the United States.

These were AWESOME... except they were outdated when they launched since the 5S was out then... I wanted one soo bad but didn't want old hardware.

Apple knew exactly what they were doing with these things. They finally gave us colors but outdated...

Idk. Maybe it’s time to hunt one on used Market? It’s doesn’t worth much if at all nowadays, and can allow me to play some really old games.
Apple pretty much can only succeed in high end market with their own store. Lower end is more or less dominated By used market and whatnot. Yes. When you understand an iPhone XS Max is much cheaper than iPhone SE 3rd gen, you know buying iPhone from apple is not always an option.

Pretty sure Apple only made this because they weren't sure people would think the 5S was worth the upsell over the 5, so they had to create this to give to the market that would typically buy last year's model for cheaper. People didn't know if the fingerprint scanner was a gimmick or the future.

Loved the looks and colors, it was only the internal hardware that held me back. Bring a 15 out next fall with the correct 15 and 15 plus screen sizes and guts but these colors and yeah even plastic for the cases - I'd go for it.

The colors for the 14's this year (and most of the 13's as well) look so much like they were made by some huge company's buttoned up HR department (other than project Red's, red iphone, which has to be red).

I remember everyone either getting a 5s or a discounted 4S. Nobody wanted the 5c because of the bright plastic and the lack of new features compared to iPhone 5.

And honestly, next to glass and metallic/aluminium of the flagships, the 5c almost looked like a smartphone from another brand.

One of the few (the only?) iPhone that ever really failed.

Without a case, these always felt the best in my hand. The metal ones feel slippery and heavier. Making me fearful of dropping.

Never had that anxiety with the 5c. Still feels good in my hand today. Even if it hasn’t been used since 6s.
Also because it was among the reasonably sized iPhones that have now been completely killed since the discontinuation of the mini.

Hands are the same size they’ve always been, but for some reason iPhone sizes get bigger every couple years.
