I love having bookmark sync... Since X-marks announced that it was shutting down, I had no other free/cheap way of keeping bookmarks in sync wirelessly... I had issues with the X-marks iPhone app previously, so eventually gave up and went with the MobileMe account (that I keep forgetting to cancel)...

Find my iPhone/iPad is great to have - probably the only reason why I dont cancel the subscription and push for a refund...

Would be nice to have a tiered option as I dont use any of the other features...

They came out saying they would not be shutting down so you can enjoy them again :)

Hey, i they made a new entry on the apple-hp about iOS 4.2. The they tell about a now feature, which is available FREE for any new generation iOS devices running iOS 4.2.3:

Find My iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch — the MobileMe feature that helps you locate your missing device and protect its data — is now free on any iPhone 4, iPad, or fourth-generation iPod touch running iOS 4.2.3 Once you set it up, you can find your lost device on a map, display a message on its screen, remotely set a passcode lock, and initiate a remote wipe to delete your data. And if you eventually find your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you can restore everything from your last backup.

All I want is free Find my iPhone. I don't need the other features.

It'll be free and I don't think a mobile me account is required :)

Btw, will I be able to access Web interface to find my iPhone? Otherwise how am I gonna find it?

I just read that! This is great news. :D

This is how we want it: FREE!!

Most of the MobileMe services are free  Maybe we're just paying for the support MobileMe has.
Here's a fun thought - the new entry tier MobileMe account serves as a user account for any iOS device. Like user account on a Mac, but all preferences live in the cloud.
Want to lend your friend your iPad but prefer he doesn't stumble upon those steamy emails from his girlfriend? Just log out of MobileMe. When he logs into your ipad with his MobileMe it automatically switches to his email, calendar, etc. He can even sync with itunes while she heads out for a "night with the girls."
This would be a great selling point for office environments that want to share a handful of devices among 20 or so employees.
That's the exact thing I'm thinking about! How does it even work by setting the Find My iDevice on other's newest iDevice? Wouldn't that just set that iDevice for the Find My iPhone?

Apparently it is only free if you have an iPhone 4. My 3GS got a message that it was not a supported device which is what Apple's site says in the fine print. Oh well.
