I think Apple used to give Veterans a discount for instore purchases.

But maybe this has a lot more to do with verifying veterans' status, as other stores have gotten more strict about their discounts.

Both Lowe's and Home Depot used to give a discount with a VA ID, but now both has to be verified online first, and they no longer honor the discount with just an ID.

I think there were a lot of people claiming Vet status that should not have been.
True. That is what they told me... they can't verify veteran status. However, I have a retired ID card and my VA ID. They still wouldn't do it.
Are you referring to the Apple Store? Or Lowe's and Home Depot?

The last time I checked, both Lowe's and Home Depot can verify status for the discount, but not at the register. Lowe's can be done at customer service using a DD214 or online, and Home Depot can only be done online, via the app.

Lowe's Vet status will be linked to your phone number, you ask for the discount and give them the phone number at check out. Home Depot can only get the discount if they scan the Vet status section on the Home Depot app.

Both work online, which is nice considering the discount online is a new feature recently added.

It would be nice is Apple allowed the discounts in the retail stores. If Lowe's and Home Depot figured out a way to verify status, I am sure Apple could.

Hey! How come all those clowns are Army?
If they put Sailors on there they'd have to increase the font size and use smaller words.
I think you mean airman.
Air Force has the highest minimum Armed Forces Qualifications Test score requirement on the ASVAB of all the branches @36, followed by the Navy @35, and then Army and Marines @31.

While the minimum is technically 36, almost all Air Force enlisted come in with an AFQT score of at least 50, due to recruiters turning away potential recruits with lower scores. The other branches sometimes offer enlistment bonuses for AFQT scores of 50+.

Yes indeed. The fun part is taking the price of the military discount into the exchange and having them price match. Discount plus tax free. I've bought several MacBook Pros that way until my local exchange caught on. Now it depends on the manager.
um...yeah...
But I am not too keen on fleecing our brothers and sisters, mate. 😢

I wish Apple would figure out how to do the discount in a store instead of just online. I've shopped online using the discount, bought a product, then walked back into the store to pick it up. Pretty ridiculous, but it works.
At our local store the give the military discounts on accessories only. Anything else you have to do a web order for pickup. Now if I goto say NJ or VA I can walk into any apple store and get my Military discount with proof of course.

I wrote to Apple asking about this and have not gotten a reply.

Just like hours open is totally different.

Apple store.

Little tidbits like this are a nice touch, not needed, but appreciated. I’d like to see a year and pick your branch option. ⚓️ Navy veteran here 🫡

Glad they do that for you. I guess it is by store. Weird though. Semper Fi!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, of course. However, if someone is actively trying to get this badge then you would at least expect them to take a moment to realize WHY the badge is being offered on that specific day.

One could argue that Memorial Day is cheapened waaaaay more on a yearly basis as the unofficial start to summer celebration vs a silly badge earned through exercise.

Good points for sure.

I’m not sure what you mean by fleecing people. Maximizing your discount with Apple’s military discount and the tax free benefit of shipping at an exchange has nothing to do “fleecing” service members. I care very little about using these types of benefits to save a few dollars when I see record profits in companies like Apple and executives get bonuses more than their workers make. Please take your veterans using their benefit shaming elsewhere.

That did not come out right...
Did not mean any offense or shaming anyone.
But the Exchange is also a business that hires a lot of our family members.
If we make them price match to a veteran discounted price, I am not sure where they can even cover the cost of getting the merchandise.
Perhaps it is just my personal choice of never using their price match policy. 😓

Was always curious about this, cannot recall US focused metals if only available to US icloud accounts?

I don't know if "National Parks Challenge" is considered US-focused, but it shows up in my account.

I know as I am a Air Force Veteran. I did 7 active and 7 in the reserves before being medically disqualified for stress fractures in my feet. If I remember correctly the scores I had for the ASVAB back in the mid 1970's were scored differently and I had rather high scores in general and still I wanted to a mechanical career and ended up doing aircraft.

It is annoying that Apple still has not got it that in store discount for veterans as I found my former employers EFF page discount is not as good as the veterans discount. Since I am fully retired I can use either the former employees discount that can be used in store for the discount or order online and get the veteran discount and pickup in the store. The biggest issue I have is I live over a hundred miles from the Base Exchange and authorized as being medically retired and collecting a VA pension and I waste more money just on fuel then just going to the nearest Apple store

I guess we can thank all the fake vets out there for spoiling it(non-vet here but they still disgust me).
