In ten years China will have more Apple Stores than the US will.

China is a manufacturing powerhouse and the money will flow to them. Manufacturing creates new wealth. Service jobs, like the US only has left now, just move the wealth around. Good Luck.

There’s some fun architecture there, but I have to say that one building looks like bad CGI from Babylon 5

You make it sound like there is also *good* CGI in Babylon 5... :p

I was hoping Apple would get out of China completely. Find another place to build the hardware :(

Yeah, Apple is going to leave the country with the cheapest skilled labor, laxest environmental laws, and the largest population (1.3 billion).

Me thinks you will have to hope for quite a bit longer.

Yep.

Gotta love the prospect of CDMA China Telecom revenue. Another instantaneous million+ iPhone buyers when the deal is inked$$$

Have either you been to China?

I have, Labor is cheap. You walk into a small restaurant and you might have 25 people eating there however there is 8 wait staff plus the people in the kitchen.

In the US with that same situation you would have maybe 4 at the very most, the service would be slow and they would still expect a tip.

Is that giant ball on a tripod in the background really there or is it photoshopped in? It doesn't look real.

wont be long before we see youtube video of china aapl store workers doing group tai chi before the store opens in the morning - in there bright garish colored t shirts of course

chinese capitalism :apple:

8? I was in in a restaurant in Guangzhou with about 100 customers and probably 70 staff. People from the USA dont appreciate the scale of China's population evidenced by Apple not building large enough stores.

But come on APPLE, build a ********** store in Hong Kong already, the shopping capital of the world. There is a mall about every other block, enough LV stores to populate the USA and yet not a single Apple retail.

Recently went on a trip to China.. It's simply amazing. All I can say is what a difference these last 10 years China has grown. Definitely going back and checking this out in the near future.

Will stop by next time I visit Shanghai.

As for all the ignorant comments about China, you won't know until you go. It's rather difficult knowing much about a place halfway around the world, especially for us North Americans. If you have the chance, go and take a look for yourself. It'll be a pleasant surprise.
