God finally a rumor about the next generation iPod touch! To be honest with you, I actually do believe this and it seems pretty sweet, even though it wont have 3G capabilities or even a better camera. But a white gadget looks awesome! :D

without new features and hardware upgrade , i think it's not:(

What a load of ****! Apple should not be charging anything like they do for miniscule memory. Even offering an 8gb model in this day and age for a device that size is a piss take. A max of 64gb - are you kidding me? And for nearly double the price! They should be out in 100gb - 200gb - 300gb options and have at least an 8mp camera

The white looks rubbish too

Apparently someone needs to go look up the cost of Flash memory. Or maybe you're thinking of the old "put an iPod Classic hard drive as the storage of a new iPod Touch" dream?

That news is incredibly disappointing if true. If they can't offer a capacity update because of the price of flash at the very least they should knock $50-100 off the price of the touch. If it does pan out like this I'll either get an iPod classic or a refurbished 4'th Gen touch for a lot less.

I looked up the cost of NAND MLC flash the other day and in my opinion they could probably double the memory at the current price points. Not 100% on that though.

What about the RAM?

I didn't see anyone mention the RAM.

The only reason I'm not super-excited about my 4G ipod touch is that it has just 256ram. It's really the main performance limiter, i.e. bottleneck.

Obviously A5 would be super-cool, but for them to keep A4 and NOT EVEN bump up ram, makes no sense.

This is the most illogical rumour I've seen yet. Just makes no sense from any perspective.

OMG

Some of you on this site are really retarded and need to grow a brain

This article is just confirming there will be a white iPod touch and not much other physical change. The back part is still questionable because this is just the cover installed on the current iPod touch. But you would of know that if you read a little more.

So stop the crying about no 3G or A5 chip and other internal changes not being made.

I may be new to this website and only had Apple products for 2 years but some of you who have been around for YEARS act like you don't know **** about **** when it comes to Apple.

how many 800 mb games do you actually have? more than 64 gb iPod touch can handle? no you don't. your point is fantasy fud.

no one needs more than 16 gb on any of these devices, and 64 is enough for even the totally obsessed data storer.

iTunes match $25 PER YEAR. are you cheap? you'd rather pay a $100 premium on top of the already overpriced 64 gb model to buy a 128 gb model, instead of getting a 8 or 16 gb and paying $25?

try thinking your ideas through
My music library is about a gigabyte. The pop/rock stuff isn't an issue. It's the classical/jazz stuff which I rip at 320Kbps AAC. Right now, I'm using a separate iPod for my classical/jazz music (no apps on that device). Not sure how great iTunes Match will work for classical music, however we know that we wouldn't be getting 320Kbps AAC.

Then there's my movie library which is probably a close to a terabyte of DVD rips. I certainly don't need my entire movie library on hand, however I could quickly fill up my iDevices with movies.

iTunes Match won't work unless there's a network connection (which there isn't in my car and while I'm walking around, two places when I'm actually using my iPod touch). I don't use my iPod touch at home.

As for apps, I probably have about 25 gigs on my iPad and about the same amount on my iPod touch. The map/GPS navi apps take up some room. I think the GPS navi app on my iPad weighs in around 1.5GB, I probably have a gig of standalone maps on my iPod touch.

I have videos and apps on my 64GB iPad (no music) and there's 20GB left. I have music and apps on my 64GB iPod touch (no videos) and there's 19GB left.

I will point out that your individual case usage is largely irrelevant to the discussion. Apple manufactures and sells 64GB iDevices and people are buying them, so clearly there is a significant market segment that wants local storage. And that doesn't even touch on the fact that there's a 160GB iPod classic still being marketed.

So yeah, I thought it through. But thanks for your concern.

Confused? Read the caption then, mate. It's a modded current gen iPod touch. It is essentially a white sticker.

You have just completley contradicted yourself. I thought it looked like a white sticker, then you try to tell me that i'm wrong and it's modded, with a white sticker!

Wrong, it's a replacement face that is painted white from the inside just like the white iPhone 4.

That's exactly what it is, we all knew that from reading the OP, i just think it looks like a sticker, it doesn't mean it is one.

Thanks for pointing that out to MacAddict1978, i think they were the one who was confused.

iPod touch has no competition what so ever. Apple will most likely drop the price on 8GB model from 229 dollars to 199 dollars.

Release White model

Maybe and Maybe double the storage.

That's it folks. It's still magical.

A5 chip will be only for iPhone 5.
Apple hates Samsung anyway and they need A5 chips for iPhone and not for iPod touch.

It's a fake in that it was not sold to anybody this way. We know this, the article aknowledges it.

However, it is a real white iPod Touch face. White iPod Touch is happening.

What a lame update. My daughter has wanted one for over a year, but even she is smart enough to not buy one as long as it has that lame camera and lousy screen (compared to the iPhone).

wow this is very very lame new for the ipod..lol makes me think no iphone 5 redesign either..lool in which case apple will have problems

Actually I would say a redesigned iPhone leans towards the reason for the iPod touch only receiving minor updates, and not wanting the touch to take any spotlight off the iPhone.
