Heh, imagine our faces when this is the only product Apple announce at today's keynote.

"To ... create ... this product, we asked ourselves 'what do consumers most want from this announcement?' The answer, of course, is not a new iPhone, but a different coloured strap for their Apple Watch.

Our engineers worked tirelessly to design a product which was both functional and gorgeous. The strap ... sympathetically wraps around the wrist, providing a unique function; both ... a distillation, and a purification, of the very essence of what we could achieve from a material. A gentle colour mix of ruby rose and unapologetic red gives this strap the visual vibrancy it deserves.

Simply put, it's the best strap we've ever designed."

Thank you for that morning humor -- I can hear Sir Ive using those phrases!

Not a fan of "always on" Siri. The bad side of this is bad. Very very bad. Especially with Siri keeping your requests for 2 years, why not longer?

I can see court cases with Apple being subpoenaed, and ugly ugly divorce cases getting uglier.

To quote Steve Martin in the Jerk, "The new sport bands are here! The new sport bands are here!

As usual, superb. Hoping we will get more of these during the keynote :D

I already have the red Strapped & Co. sports band, so I am not sure if I would get this, but I am very psyched about the thought of different colors.

This is really the only thing I wanted that was not a part of the initial Apple Watch rollout.

I love red on Black. I have a Red iPhone case, iPad cover and my black and red Oakley frames. Oh and of course my Canon L lenses have that red ring on the black body. It's one of my favorite color combos.

When I bought the Space Black SS Apple Watch, I bought the black sport band which seems silly. I've been waiting for this band for a long time. I hope it's available to ship by Friday. On Space black, this thing is going to look awesome!

Apple will release a (PRODUCT)RED Sport Band for the Apple Watch, and likely other new Sport Band colors, according to a retail source. At least one Apple Store has received inventory of the new bright red band ahead of Apple's "Hey Siri" media event in San Francisco today.

Tech blogger Larry Greenberg shared a picture of the (PRODUCT)RED Sport Band box on Twitter a few hours ago. The band could look similar to the custom red Sport Band that Apple design chief Jonathan Ive gifted to former British professional rugby player Will Carling in April.

Last week, we corroborated a report that Apple will unveil new Sport Bands for Apple Watch at its September 9 media event. The additional colors beyond (PRODUCT)RED could include other shades of red, orange, yellow, blue and beige, as shown off at the Milan Design Week in April.

Apple is also expected to introduce new metal finishes for the Apple Watch Sport, possibly including lower-cost anodized rose and yellow gold versions. The new color will likely resemble the rose gold Apple Watch Edition and to-be-announced rose gold iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

Other Last-Minute Rumors

- iPhone 6s could have always-on Hey Siri per AppleInsider
- iPad Pro could cost $799/$899/$999 for 32GB/64GB/128GB per 9to5Mac
- Apple TV software platform will be called tvOS per 9to5Mac

MacRumors, this post is an interesting substitute for actual news.

Apple, this small perturbation of a current product is an interesting substitute for actual innovation.

If you want to support a charity, give $50 to a charity directly. Apple is not giving product RED $50 for every watch band you buy, or any product RED Apple product they sell. Ultimately this is a marketing gimmick for Apple and less about doing a good thing for charity. Also at this stage of the game, Apple could give product RED 1 billion dollars but they are too greedy and have a history of giving very little back to charities and communities.

Ultimately, if you care about a charity, donate outside of Apple's greedy marketing campaigns.

Red is neat.... But it's not my favorite color.... Try again Apple.

Companies usually give some back, but keep most.... That's how i see this.

Why are all these rumors and stuff being linked too/first reported by other sites? Should I stop coming to macrumors for my info and just go to the other sites?
They're consolidated here and the forum is among the best environments for reaction to the rumors and commentary that I've seen since I started paying attention to such things. So that is where I find the value in this site.

Can we have a product red leather loop too please Apple?!

Love my black leather loop but would happily get a red version too.
That would look sharp for the leather loop fans. I hope you get your wish.

I have the 38 mm model so I'm thrilled for a Product red band. I have the Product Red iPad mini case I enjoy knowing part of the price supports a good cause and the color looks great.
