I really hope the 13" MBA comes with an option for 4GB RAM and a 256GB SSD without doing a BTO.
I want to be able to go to a store Thursday and pick one up.

Yea! TB MacPro is on the way. Finally. (I jumped the gun a bit and sold my 2010 MP when I read that TB was going to be a no-go as far as PCI cards anytime soon. I've been "suffering" with a 15" 2011 MBP i7 these months waiting for the next gen MPs. Worth the wait though, especially since I got nearly what I paid for my 6 m.o. MP.)

If I remember correctly last year they announced the new Mac Pro and then didn't ship it for a long time. Maybe that is all this is.

I know it took a long time for the 5870 to be available for purchase. Also the new LED Displays where announced but didn't ship for about a month.

So they have done this before.

Yeah last year they announced July 27th and started shipping around August 20th.

i cant wait, getting an ultimate 13inch as soon as it hits the store. :apple::D

With Final Cut Pro X designed to run on the MBA, why do they even need to sell the MacPro anymore? Apple doesn't care about pro users. (Still heartbroken about that whole mess)

I seriously doubt the MacBooks are being discontinued. I also doubt that the new MBAs will take their place. Go look on the Apple Store website. Their MacBook is listed as a top seller, the MacBook Air isn't. If the MBAs are going to take the place of the MBs, the 13" needs a serious price cut and much better performance. However, with Sandy Bridge CPUs, Apple might consider the offerings good enough to get rid of the MBs.

As in you won't be a student any longer or as in the student sale? Because that ends in Sept. according to their brochure.

I was unaware that Tuesday was an option for the release date, though everyone was on Thursday. Tuesday would work much better since I'll be ordering a MBA online and would love to play with it over the weekend. (first mac, pretty excited, though it's freakin' expensive!)

I am no longer a student as of July 7th when i graduated, our student accounts were closed so i could no longer log into the campus computers to order from then onwards.

Though there is nothing wrong with my 8core lady, she is faster than the Macbook Pro 13inch Core2duo she replaces by many times.

Really hoping they show the MacPro's

We are about to replace our Dual 2.5ghz G5 with a new MacPro. Had this work station for about 6 years now and I need something better. Told my boss we would have to wait till August or September to start looking at a new MacPro but if they come out on Thursday, then we can really start looking into one and not have to wait several months. 12 cores, here I come!

Here's to hoping that the Air's do come out this week, and that the 13" models have the LV processors and not the ULV ones. If so, my order for the 13" Ultimate will be placed as soon as the online store has them.

My new Mac Pro came last week (£778 Student Discount before it expires) here's hoping the revised model brings new GPU's i can order.

If the Mac Pro's end up being released this week, you are within the 2 week upgrade window for new product releases, so Apple should provide you with an equivalent new machine at no cost.

We could really use a new MacPro that supports at least 128 GBs of RAM... Any word on how high the RAM might get?

Can run doesn't mean runs well. There are plenty of pro's using Mac Pros.

Yeah...staying with FCP7 for a couple more years then most likely going with Avid.
