Apple actually five stores in Sydney. They are called Bondi, Broadway, Chatswood Chase, Miranda, and Sydney. Only the one called "Apple Sydney" (the one in the central business district) is remaining closed... but like "Apple Broadway" is a 10 minute drive / 30 minute walk away from it.
Is the "Apple Sydney" store ambiguous, or did OP change their post?

just need to make sure the cure is not worse than the disease.
For the most part, Australia and New Zealand have managed COVID rather well. To have done nothing would have been negligent and irresponsible. The lockdown cannot continue forever, but I question how 7000* Australian deaths would have been better than 96. (*at Sweden's rate of 274 per million people)

It’s a highly contagious, infectious disease with no vaccine that is not in anyway comparable to anything else you listed. It’s absurd to bring up things like obesity, you can’t make someone else obese by sneezing on them. Cancer is not contagious, the flu doesn’t give you the lungs of a 70 year old smoker if you survive it.

There’s a reason every medical agency and country on earth (for the most part) are going full tilt against this. The flu has also not disappeared, nor have any of the other things you mentioned that continue killing people. Even when things eventually slowly begin to reopen, life will be vastly different. Social distancing, use of masks etc will be needed until there’s a vaccine or major herd immunity.

You CANNOT achieve herd immunity without the ‘herd’ being exposed to the virus. Staying locked up does nothing to achieve or even promote so-called herd immunity. Staying locked up means you remain vulnurable to the virus forever.

Here's a graphic to put things into perspective: World wide Covid death trend :(

That is dramatic, but it's not telling us anything about where we are in the course of the pandemic. More useful graphs are logarithmic and incremental, not linear and cumulative. If the disease stopped 100% in its tracks a month from now, the graph you post would look even worse, even though the pandemic was over.

You can, however, greatly reduce deaths and serious occurrences by flattening the curve through reduced social contact. Yes, people will still be exposed to the disease, but hospitals won't be overwhelmed, which leads to avoidable deaths; and, if things go well, a vaccine will become available mitigating the effects of exposure in the future for many people.

Ah... this thread is related to Australian stores reopening. Here's a graph more specific to Australia

Opening up again may require better track and trace. No one has mentioned the Exposure Notification API / app. There has been speculation some venues and work places will require its use. Symptom checking like forehead heat can only catch a portion of potential virus cases.

Our governor here in my US state of Arizona just pushed for legislation speeding up the usage of the tracing app.

I am excited the minute my local US Apple Store opens, I just hope everyone does stay safe. It seems most economies are opening back up, but I hope they do so responsibly.
Please don’t go and visit an Apple Store just for the sake of it. Only if you have repairs or pickup. Otherwise do everybody else - and especially the employees - a favor and stay at home or work.
And if you have a repair needed or want to purchase something, how about you try calling Apple Support and use online ordering with home or carrier store delivery.
I know your comment does not say explicitly that you’ll jump in your car and go the store the minute it opens, but I’m just giving everyone here a way to avoid the unnecessary encounter of the third type. Thank you.

...in the end we have to let people get Covid-19, otherwise we will never be able to travel OS, or let people visit us, again.

So you'd be happy for loved one to get COVID-19, what if they died as a result, just so you could travel OS? My wife is in a very high risk category and I'm not going to play Russian roulette just so I can do things.

A bit weird to limit store hours. All that will achieve is forcing the customers who need to visit to all herd there in the limited hours. It would make more sense to increase the store hours, not limit them.

wahoo!!..we get a mention ...

It sux its may only be a staged re-open, As the case with out government: cafes, and other venues depends on the store, may open now, or later.

I would expect the same to be true with Apple.

Staying 'locked up' slows the likely spread until it wipes itself out. That's flattening the curve, until such a time that a vaccine becomes available. Sounds like you subscribe to the view of constitutional rights and freedom over health (assuming you're a US citizen). It's not about you, it's about everyone.

Can't stay locked up for over a year until a vaccine comes along

Hehe I admit my closest store is actually Chadstone but Chadstone itself isn't my favourite place in the world. Too busy at times (I still go there from time to time though). It's why I catch a train along the Frankston line to Southland, less people at Southland.
True that.. right now its okay because of iso, so if you been keen on checking out the chaddy store, when they open it up might be a good time xD

If this person had any understanding at all about just how lethal and what a roll of the dice this virus is (for anyone) I’d hope their opinion would change. A 5 year old in New York died today, a guy in his early 20s whose only “preexisting condition” was asthma he grew out of by his preteens died etc. The virus gives some holes in their lungs and damages organs even if they survive it. This isn’t like some common cold you want everyone exposed to.

I'm finding difficulty understanding what you're referring to in your first sentence.

It's your life, but remember your choice here also has an affect on those who choose to be more conservative.

I am not forcing you to leave your home, if you choose to stay locked up then do so, unfortunately if I do not go to work I will not have a home to stay locked down in.

Fair enough. What you meant wasn't what you wrote. Even so, you have a duty of care by your actions. Thankfully I am able to work from home and I won't be going back to the office any time soon. Hope you're able to practice safe distancing and any other things that you need to do as required by whatever location you might be in, so that you return safe to your family each day.
