The 32GB version was $649 for the 5C in September 2013 to July 2014! I hesitate to purchase this model and had to pay big time $200 more after it got discontinued. $850.00.

I feel truly sad for you.

In earnest: It looks like it didn't sell well outside the USA. And I assume it sold in the USA because some morons thought it was "free"...

I don't expect another iteration of a plastic shell phone. But we'll see.

Funny how we regard the 5C as a flop, next to the 5S..

But the 6+ as a success, next to the 6.

The sales ratios are the same for each.

The people that want the 6+ to be a success are just really vocal.

Isn't it obvious? Unless you haven't seen the pattern of the iPhone then, you might want to start looking back at how the iPhones are being introduced. In the next set of iPhones, Apple would introduce the 8GB iPhone 5S, 16GB and 32GB for both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus (or they might drop one of the two iPhone 6), and the new iPhone 6S which is going to be coming in at 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB.

Because the 5c is better to look at, better to hold, and more durable?

Just putting it out there...

My wife has had one since release, loves it, she is "Destroyer of Phones" and it holds up to her aggro very well and I will second what is said above, its definitely good to hold and use (better than a 4s or 5), also way more durable with the plastic back.

Its a fun but solid phone.

I don't know why an 8gb model is all that's available now. That's not enough space.

The 16gb 5c was my first iPhone, and it's been a great phone.

I heard that the U.S. carriers wanted this limited model more then any other configuration because it is suppose to get the buyers to maximize cellular usage. 4GB would be to limited with less then 2GB left after iOS.

Best iPhone I ever had. I had a Space Gray 64GB 5S when it first came out. This much better in terms of function and feel. It too bad that Apple elected to make it a budget phone that is only $100 less then the flagship and gave it last years SoC and camera. Wonder how sales would have been if it had same SoC as the flagship.

Hope Apple continues with this polycarbonate iPhone for 2015 and give it flagship components inside this time with 128GB option for storage.

the 5c is good product , i think its aimed for young people, but its not good enough for the elitism , im talking about the elites of iphone family

I don't care what the bashers say about the 5C! I like it over the 5S and I had the 5S for 3 months before I sold it to my friend at the same price I purchase it for! He still has it too; but he is very envious of my 5C!

I hope Apple keeps the polycarbonate case and puts in not last years components but state of the art component inside it for next year's model! I like it better then the 6 model cases too.

So, if Tim Cook and Jonny Ives is using the 5C; now he has a lot of leverage to make it so for 2015!

But next year there will be a replacement for the 6/6 Plus. Would Apple really keep the 5s, 6, 6Plus and then add a 6s and 6s Plus? Do they need that many phone models?

What they could do is have;

5s (Free)
6c ($99) (4.7" only)
6s ($199)
6s Plus ($299)

EDIT:

Or an alternate route;

5s (Free)
6 ($99)
6s ($199)
6s Plus ($299)

The 5c only had color going for it. It's basically a 5 in a colored plastic case.

Net sum = no benefit. Kill it.

Yeah, it's colorful, but is that enough to keep it around?

Agreed, that would be a great idea. I wish they offered a 4" iPhone with the A8 chip though. I wouldn't personally buy it as I prefer the size of the 6, but it seems a bit of a fob-off to no longer offer the latest specs in a smaller screen size -- especially after Apple kept banging on about one-handed usability for years.

That would be so great… if it wasn't plastic. I know you didn't say it would be, but if they kept the 4in size in a metal enclosure. That would be my phone..

It might not have sold that well but it's a great device. I love mine! wish they would make a 6C, as I'm not entirely sold on the 6 or 6+

RIP iPhone 5c

I will always love my white iPhone 5c. It's the best iPhone one can get, which doesn't need a case, is so sturdy and look ma, no stupid scratches

Just a couple of thoughts on sales of the 5C:

:apple:It was only $100 less then the flagship model.
:apple:Storage did not go up to that of the flagship model.
:apple:It had last year's SoC and Camera technology.
:apple:Most pundits said it was not a good buy!

So overall; I blame :apple: on not making the 5C competitive so it could really be competitive with regard to technology and pricing.

Given that disadvantage; it still sold well!

I have the 5c and love it. It still has 1gb ram just like all the other iPhones out there so I think Apple will support it for quite a while longer. It comes in different colors and aside from the 4 and 4s this is the most popular phone where I live hands down, I literately see them everywhere. I don't see myself getting another iPhone until Apple drops software support for the 5c, especially since I use my 5c as an iPod touch :)

Count me in the group who loves the 4 inch screen size since it can be used with one hand.

I know there are some who just can't accept that Apple is prone to mistakes but can we at least finally admit that the 5c was a failure.

Yeah, what a failure. a hundred bucks too much, teenybopper colors only and yet, the 5C has done quite well.

Got a white 16GB C back around day one and haven’t looked back. What hooked me was the very thing forum elitists hate the most – the cheap, round-edged, polycarbonate back – granite-solid and way more comfortable in-hand than square.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this little plastic piece of downgraded-to-8GB crap doesn’t evolve into a full-featured 6C, Apple’s sole 4-inch offering, available not only in lollipop but also ... finally … infinity black and space grey.
