That’s a weird take. Belkin is happy to sell accessories for anything they can; their phone cases aren’t Apple appeasement either.

The OP is an Apple hater with nothing better to do than post on a site dedicated to Apple products about how much they suck. A weird thing for somebody to spend time doing but to each his own I guess.

Steve would’ve never released this version of VP. Incomplete software is one thing; weight inbalance would’ve been totally unacceptable.

They should’ve made the AVP itself 1/3 of the current weight, especially considering they have already moved the batteries out..
😂 it’s not as though they decided to make it heavier as they thought it’d be more comfortable. Suggesting they should have made it lighter simply isn’t productive. The tech will get there. They had to juggled the experience, the weight, the cost etc. with current tech limitations.

Such a counter weight would be in the way if you're using the device in bed or in a high-backed chair.
Apple helmets with visors could be a solution! These things are not going to be human-friendly, for sure! Only professionals doing some extreme stuff may require this, which could guide them to do what they want to do with very close coordination (e.g., during surgery, Chip Design, or some industrial stuff where you can't get inside).

you have to check e.g. kleinanzeigen.de - (once owned by ebay) we‘re no longer so much into ebay.
But there are also more sites.

Here you go
https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-apple-vision-pro/k0
and once again you're highly manipulatory:

  • AVP Gerät + Gerät und Zubehör - 36 pcs all over Germany - that's probably less than 1/1000 of the sold devices - as a conservative estimation
  • Meta Quest 3 - 329
that's again almost 10 fold the number and on eBay it's 100x

A better Apple would have waited until the technology was there. They didn't ship the iPod until the 1.8" hard drive existed; they didn't ship the iPhone until they had perfected multitouch, etc. Obviously these products got better over time but they waited until the fundamental technology was there before they shipped.

Depends. I expected to find find 1 or 2 devices. Given the fact that AVP is available since about 3 months and not a megaseller, I find this remarkable. Additionally users can return it within 14 days.

I don‘t think that‘s manipulating. Most people try to sell it for about 3K, but I thing the real sales price will be around 2.5k. Minimum price for the AVP is 3999 or 4K here in germany.

What Apple needs to do is have a counter-weight, something on the back of the head that weighs as much as the Vision device on the front, so there isn't a net force pulling the head forward and hurting the neck. This should be simple, why aren't any headset makers doing it?
It’s definitely never hurt my neck. Since owning it and watching all my tv in it my neck is actually better since I can put my head in any position I want and even lie down. It’s the face pressure that’s the problem or the dents it leaves in your forehead after hours of use lol

I thought that with my Quest 2, that the process to use them was uncomfortable and I would prefer to just watch a show or play a game on my computer. With the Quest 3 tho it’s a bit different, they feel easier to put on and the full color pass through view keeps you connected with your environment, not feeling “encapsulated”.

I think Vision Pro just needs to get lighter to achieve this, besides a nice selection of useful apps for daily life

It's a more deliberate act than getting out and opening up a laptop, or whipping out your phone, or glancing at a watch.

If it gets light enough and easy enough to put on and off and there's a really compelling reason to put it on in the first place, it could work.

Try the thicker face cushion

Without the inserts the glare issue practically disappears.

It’s only an issue in the cinema environment. Basically light reflecting off eyes back onto display. Hard problem to solve, but hoping new anti-glare coating on iPhone 16 Pro cameras is Apple testing a possible solution. I would also think Apple could triangulate where glare should be and mitigate in software, but not sure if even possible.

I was frustrated with the weight of the AVP until I got the Annapro. I was skeptical, but oh boy, it’s a total game changer. Also now pre-ordered the Annapro V2 on Kickstarter.

They could easily reduce some weight by not using aluminum on a headset. It’s just poor design decisions

Is your keyboard broken?

Belkin .... nope.
Just remember they're the same company that decided to leave the entire Wemo Smart Plug V2 fleet vulnerable without this small patch creating massive eWaste in favor of "buy the newer model."

Pft, I find the headband quite comfortable as I use my AVP in a recliner or in bed. I don’t have to crank the headband so tight to keep it 90° to the ground.

So imagine Carbon Fiber, or any other metal. And it doesn’t help with the weight either.
The problem is why do they have to use an all glass front?
My point is, they start with a wrong goal at the beginning. Everything they do should optimize for the weight for a wearable device. Especially if they have went to the extent of moving the batteries out.
Right now it feel more like “we cannot put the batteries in because it will be too heavy” it’s a compromise, rather than an actual design decision based on a philosophy

Do you really believe they would not think of that?
They spend years engineering it and trying multiple options.
Glass doesn’t turn yellow or store heat unlike plastic. It doesn’t scratch as easily as plastic and it doesn’t distort the image of the front display.
There are lots of components that require high precision mounting.
If you are a genius and come up with a better way, go ahead and sell it to Apple.
