Update (8:20 a.m. PT): Mashable reports the exclusive Apple Watch Sport models will be available between January 15 and February 22 in yellow gold aluminium and silver aluminium with (PRODUCT)RED sport bands.

Update (9:10 a.m. PT): The limited edition 38mm and 42mm Apple Watch Sport models are now available on the Apple Online Store for between $518 and $598 in Singapore. Prices vary in other countries.

Seems odd to sell an "special edition" to a market you are trying to win over just months before a completely revised model is allegedly to be announced. Maybe the assumption AW2 would be announced this spring is false and it won't be announced until WWDC?

Personally, I'm thinking they'll announce Apple Watch OS3 before they show the Apple Watch 2 given all the sales of Apple Watch 1.

Just some standard colors bundled with a strap that usually isn't an available combo or more interestingly would be something like an Anodized Red Sport model.

I think Watch OS will support the First gen watch for a while, say 2 hardware revisions, so whether there's a watch 2 in March or not it really is OS functionality I would like. Solid OS functionality across the board for all Apple OS's (TV OS, iOS, Watch OS and OSX).

Isn't this--or shouldn't it be--the case for all news and information?

Right, but the OS has nothing to do with h/w upgrades brought to AW2. To buy an AW1 now just because of a unique color combo seems silly given the massive improvements and even new features AW2 will likely bring. This assumes the rumor of an impending spring announcement are true.

Right before Apple Watch 2 comes out.

Don't make me feel bad for having a 1st gen just for a couple of months :(

Watch OS2 isn't really on point yet, so i hope that that the 1st gen will support at least Watch OS5. Really need beter performance and overal speed.

if everyone complains of how slow the apple watch is now I am guessing that it will be made far worse when any OS updates come out in the future. I am really hoping the Apple watch 2 is a step up at the level of ipad to ipad 2

I just bought a stainless steel space black but am curious to know what apple will release for this special occasion and how that would be able to tempt buyers to part with their money...

"Right before?" What does that mean? Do you know the date for the release of version 2 of the watch?
This is a consumer device, not a pro device.

Consumer Apple device = decent to halfway-decent care
Pro Apple device = "Tim, what about the Mac Pro?" - "Don't worry, Dan."

I think it's gonna come out this year. Sure, I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Isn't Red supposed to be good luck in Chinese culture? Maybe something Red and Gold. Well they might as well. The Chinese are going Gaga for Apple products at the moment and they have a lot of money to spend. Apple might as well get some of it

But also seems a missed opportunity not to offer something special for a holiday season in your second largest market. And it is just the "sport" edition which isn't that expensive.

I know Apple Watch 2 is coming. But I will not be surprised if it is visibly indistinguishable from Apple Watch 1 except for perhaps another color option.

china pages actually does not show the premature info, only hk, tw, sg, and my pages showing the it, and sg page is the first to remove the references, followed by my, hk, tw (about 5-15 minutes later)...

anyway, no photo of the exclusive model from the begin until the end..

yes i have been refresh those pages from beginning until they remove it...

Yep. With all the color options Apple introduced this fall it seems highly unlikely they'd introduce a completely new design 6 months later. I don't see many design changes coming to Watch 2. The improvements need to be software and speed not case design.

Apple announces the "I'm somewhat more extremely wealthy than the other people" edition of the sport watch for Asian markets. Because nobody likes being on the low end of the high-end market if they can help it.
