But also seems a missed opportunity not to offer something special for a holiday season in your second largest market. And it is just the "sport" edition which isn't that expensive.

I know Apple Watch 2 is coming. But I will not be surprised if it is visibly indistinguishable from Apple Watch 1 except for perhaps another color option.

Right, I understand it's nothing more than a different watch/strap combo. What I don't get is why Apple would want to hard market the AW like this just a couple months before a new one is announced... if that is the plan. We all know how people "violently" react (usually via social media) when they buy something labeled a "special edition," and then a couple months later a "latest, greatest" next gen is announced. I realize Apple is just trying to pick unpicked cherries here, but seems they might have a bitter after taste in a market they so very need for future growth.

So I will spend some transfer hours at Chinga and Singapore in February and first got a bit excited about this. But the price...for a sport edition...ridiculous.

am i blind? whats different about them?

Not much. The silver/red watch is just a different combination of faces and bands, though the gold/red watch does have a red Sport Band with matching gold pin which hasn't been released before.

The price is the same as the normal models?

The port is close to $600 in the states?

Ah OK, but the models are no more expensive than the other Sport watches in Singapore, Malaysia etc.
Just be thankful that they're relatively cheap in the States!
Shot I had no idea they were that expensive in the far east. Guess I won't be apple shopping at my layover.

The problem with (PRODUCT)RED sport bands is that they are not red enough, they should've made them darker....they should release more dark colours, we are human beings we are not barbies!

Anyways, Happy New Year guys...

Seems odd to sell an "special edition" to a market you are trying to win over just months before a completely revised model is allegedly to be announced. Maybe the assumption AW2 would be announced this spring is false and it won't be announced until WWDC?
I kind of hope this because I recently bought an Apple Watch. Either way i'm still happy with my current Apple Watch because it's a first gen Apple product :p :)

I have even better idea.
Why don't we buy usual sport edition watches, paint them gold and sell on Chinese ebay!

"This is a developing story. Check back for updates."

Isn't this--or shouldn't it be--the case for all news and information?

Are you confusing saturation with lightness? I have one, and the red is very saturated, while also quite light/bright.

I agree some darker, more heavily saturated colors would be a nice compliment to the mostly pastel colors in the last batch (the exceptions being toe walnut and the fabulous midnight blue), maybe a dark green and a burgundy. Ooh, and a dark purple.

we are human beings we are not barbies!
Meaning that we're not one foot tall, plastic, and having unrealistic proportions? (I agree - but they don't make any watches or straps that fit Barbies.) Or do you mean we're not female? Last I checked, over half the world's population is, and the pastel colors in the last batch seem quite popular with women. They still sell the original colors.

The red and gold option looks nice, still not gonna buy any watch until i've see some use case scenarios that make it valuable as no wearables offer any benefits to me yet.

I've never heard of that. What's your source?
