Agreed

I'm looking to buy my first ever Mac in the form of a MacBook Pro, and I'm not prepared to buy one until the latest round of updates has been released. I hope Apple pull their finger out with this one!

I am also interested in buying my first ever MBP, but am not very happy about waiting. I'm afraid to be one of those people that buys it in January, then find out that they are coming out with a new MBP a month later that blows it out of the water. Apple really needs to step it up and make a decision on what they are going to do and fast. It's not fair to keep us waiting!!

Welcome to the world of Apple :D

Good thing is they usually update at Macworld, and we're right at the time it makes sense to update AND Intel will have just released a new CPU (although unfortunately it's dual core, but presumably it'll still be better than Apple's current dual cores).

I'm sure apple has decided. It is quite fair for them to "keep you waiting." You aren't entitled to know everything they are going to do ahead of time.

If they announced now but can't deliver until march, what would it do to current sales? And if you buy one today because you need one, does the one you bought today suddenly stop working for you because a new one comes out a few months later?

I'm sure he knows all that, but it's just hard to wait when you're near the end of a cycle :)

I missed this thread but integrated crapo graphics are just that. Good for Apple to demand better from Intel who is trying to muscle out the gpu makers. Hip Hip Horay!

I haven't been paying much attention to this new Intel release given it's just dual core, but are the (crappy) graphics actually part of the CPU die, or just packaged together?

Either way, what a complete waste of silicon. I assume if they're actually part of the die, tons of companies are going to be stuck buying worthless silicon that gets used in systems with GPUs...space that should be used for more CPU resources, whether execution hardware or cache.

Given Nvidia's lowest end, several years old stuff destroys Intel's best in every conceivable way, and costs next to nothing compared to the price of even a cheap PC...

EDIT: What stinks is this would be a perfect time for me to order a new notebook, but between Intel's new CPUs and Apple's iSlate next month, I'm torn between getting something now that works for sure, and waiting to see if there's something better, but not knowing if it has issues (and having it be a pain to get shipped) next month :-/

Your edit explains the exact same position I'm in. I hate Intel's IGP but I'd be willing to put up with less for a new/better way of using a computer.

Excellent! Well that's good to hear. Hopefully that means they'll just be leaving it off some models (heck, they can charge the same if they really must...)

I'm in the same position, buy now or wait... Any news about the CPU?

Yeah, I would have thought we'd see something by now. Apple had their event. Intel's released their new CPUs. The Macbook Pro is well past due for an update...but nothing.

Maybe Apple's having the same USB problems with the PM55 chipset other OEMs are?

EDIT: And it's sounding like no Blu Ray either. They're FOUR YEARS late now (despite being part of the Blu Ray group), and it sounds like the next wave STILL won't have it, which is a big strike against them for me.
