Apple's upcoming iPad Pro models will feature "by far the best OLED tablet panels on the market," according to Display Supply Chain Consultants. Set to be announced on May 7, the OLED iPad Pro models will feature LTPO (a more power efficient form of OLED), a 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate, and a tandem stack and glass thinning that will bring "ultra-thin and light displays" that support high brightness, extended battery life, and a long lifetime.

As has been previously rumored, today's report suggests that the iPad Pro models will be available in 12.9-inch and 11.1-inch sizes, with both options to feature slimmed down bezels and a much thinner design. The 12.9-inch version, for example, will be over 1mm thinner than the current model.

There is a possibility that the 11.1-inch iPad Pro will be in short supply at launch because Apple has been dealing with light leakage issues that are not impacting the 12.9-inch model.

Along with the best OLED display on the market, the iPad Pro models could get Apple's next-generation AI-optimized M4 chip, and they are expected to ship alongside a new Apple Pencil and an updated version of the Magic Keyboard. Apple will also introduce new 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch LCD iPad Air models.

Apple plans to unveil the updated iPads on Tuesday, May 7 at 7:00 a.m. Pacific Time.

double oled layer helps in contrast and HDR, but they double the blue fading pixels issue
So....2 ups 1 down while with mini-led, if Apple put a lot of money in it and have dimming zone/1pixel that would be second best display tech next to micro-led

We dont know that yet. There are many reasons why OLED is still not widely used for 11~32 inch monitors especially for professional grade monitors. Even mini-LED is not yet adapted for professional monitors.

Burn-in is the major issue with OLED which is inevitable. Professional LCD monitor can last more than 5 years with quality guarantees which OLED can not do that. Many pros already skeptical about migrating from LCD to OLED as Apple is the only one moving to OLED completely.

The most disaster part is the price. Do you still remember the rumor that 11/13 inch will START from $1500/1800? This info already leaked since March, 2023 from South Korea by well known leaker. Even now, both LG and Samsung are still struggling to manufacture OLED panels for OLED iPad Pro cause it's really expensive, difficult, and low yield. Dont forget that TWO STACK TADNEM OLED is 2~3 times more expensive than overall OLED panels and it will be much more expensive due to LPTO, high specs, size, and more. If the rumor is true, then most of us will not buy it for a long time.

True, but why not make the iPad a 2-in-1? Choose between macOS and iPadOS.

This way it won't be useless with JUST iPadOS as it currently stands.
like a dual boot/bootcamp when you start your ipad?
They can do it, if they want for the 16gb ram ipads or automatically (if you check in settings option) switch to macOS when you attach the magic keyboard to be an friendly keyboard/pointer OS

Doesn’t matter what they do to the hardware it’s always going to be a larger iPhone. Improve the software and make it more functional.
not the software is the issue, but the apps...iphones doenst have final cut pro or something similar like the ipad

Maybe the time was 14 years ago, when the iPad was created and it wasn’t clear whether they were making the right choice with iOS/iPadOS.

But I think today it’s obvious that it was the right choice, and macOS (or any desktop OS) shouldn’t be used in a tablet.
People arguing for macOS on an iPad probably aren't thinking it through properly. Like, if you want macOS then buy a laptop.
