So Apple is basically upgrading my Apple Watch Ultra 2 to an Apple Watch Ultra 3 over the air?

Sweet. I'll take it! I've been wondering lately if I have sleep apnea.

So far upgrading to the Ultra 2 last year seems like one of the best upgrades I've ever done, lol. I'm most excited about the Action Button becoming more useful. Right now I only use it to start an exercise.
you could also put it another way: watchOS 11, which I am sure is required for these, brings new features to existing AW models ...

Finding out you have sleep apnea on an Apple Watch, yet still have to go in and get a test from a sleep specialist to later get a prescription for a CPAP, priceless.
I would have had my sleep tested long ago if I was concerned about sleep apnea.

So the Ultra 2 gets play sound through speakers but the Series 9 does not? :( lame! They even shrunk the speaker smaller in series 10 than the 9 but can’t give the bigger speaker the same treatment?

They are available on Ultra 1.
Why isn't MacRumors (or Apple) reporting this then? As reported, it does indeed sound outrageous. If it turns out that the Ultra 1 isn't getting features it's completely capable of, like sleep apnea detection, action button improvements, and speaker playback, then I'm done with Apple. The Ultra 1 isn't even two years old!

The sleep apnea probably does depend on the more capable background acceleration sensor, so that one I can understand not coming to UW1

Possibly, though the recent watch models can all track respiration, including the series 7. Is tracking the intermittent lack thereof that much of a higher sensitivity requirement?

Not being antagonistic with this response, btw. Genuine question!

Some of you commenters need to calm your farm.

Confirmed working on my Ultra gen 1 running watchOS 11 release candidate: Tides app, Action button switching.

Confirmed not working (or at least I haven’t figured out how to get it to work): music playback over built-in speaker.

Don’t know if it works, but not counting on it: sleep apnoea detection.

Not sure, just find it at least plausible that would have a technical reason.

The quick switch function does seem to be present, but lack of speaker playback I certainly can't see a reasonable reason for lacking.. as far as I'm aware nothing changed in that regard from UW1 to 2.
