Not unusual. When the iPhone 5 came out, it accounted for 51% of Verizon activations.
Remember, these are activations NOT sales.
Whenever Apple brings out a new model, activations jump like crazy, for two reasons:
1) People upgrading to the new model.
2) People re-activating the older hand-me-down or resold model.
In the past, used iPhones have accounted for as much as 1/4 of reported AT&T iPhone activations.
iPhones are made in China just like Moto G and not in Germany.
Newcomers like Xiaomi are taking away marketshare from both #1 Samsung and #2 Apple.

So theoretically Blackberry could be in the negative with sales, since the "hand-me-down" applies to all manufacturers?
It simply means that out of the 500 people in the US that they talked to, none activated a Blackberry phone.

or even money Google makes from IOS vs Android (the most funny stat of all).
Oh, ok, thanks. Slightly off topic: Do you think that Samsung users hand down their phones?
(My own tween daughter, although familiar with both OSes, wanted an iPhone because "everyone uses iMessage and Facetime".)
And hyundais are made in korea, not china. But porsches perform better with a 6 cylinder 3.8 liters engine than american cars with 8 cylinder 7 liters engines. They are more expensive too. The average redneck still thinks his camaro is better of course anyway, the numbers are bigger you know.
This reminds me something....

My kids are the same way. Although my daughter who uses an iPad has mastered Hangouts and video chatting with me from her iPad mini to my Note 3 and loves it. She smart both ways. Makes no difference to me either. iMessage is nice but I really have no need for it. The only time I have wifi only is when I'm on an airplane and even there, I simply fire off an email to my wife who is an iPhone user.

I have a CTS-V with $800 in mods and 605hp to the wheels and a C6Z06 with a small snail on it laying down nearly 700hp to the wheels. Both cost far less than a comparable Posche and in the right hands out perform them as a daily driver and track car. I love track days and putting some Germans in their place.
Practicality is the key. A few associates drive their awd Porsches to work in the worst of snow and salt. I never see a corvette out when a rain drop is present much less snow and ice. Different strokes for different folks; these Porsches spank the vette in a different way.
Most Vette owners have a true daily driver thus the reason they aren't out in the rain and especially in snow. The latter isn't because one couldn't outfit them with proper rubber but because of ground clearance. I wouldn't count driving a 4S in snow spanking anything.
My CTS-V with winter rubber handles snow with ease and makes a great daily that has beat up on several Panamera's during our summer outings. Never been a part of a winter event but my wife's Stage III APR S4 would be a lot of fun there.
You kind of just confirmed my point, however relevant this sub-thread adds to the point of the main thread.
Blackberry 0% new activation. Zero? Really?
500 is a pretty small sample size for 9 variables, right?
The analysis only contains one nominal variable: the brand of smartphone activated.
