This ranking can't be right. Apple is one of the least admired companies, per the comments from some on MacRumors. Those commenters surely know more than the "3,720 executives, directors, and securities analysts" who were surveyed.
Not hard to see what "3,720 executives, directors, and securities analysts" can admire in Apple, Microsoft and Amazon.

The people adding emoji are not the same engineers working on technical issues.

They also may not be for you, but they’re a great way to get casual users to update their software, which is why Apple makes them a highlight feature as needed. Security patches just aren’t attractive in the way being able to send new emoji is.

A very thoughtful post - thank you.

Sadly, that's become a rarity here.

They are still Apple and thus my message stands for Apple to get some critical foundation issues fixed.

I was a software developer for 35 years so I have a very deep understanding of how computers work.

The issue I outlined requires a critical update!

Forbes must regard us proles as fools. This has nothing to do with "innovation" or "social responsibility" or any of the other feelgood phrases they attach to this list.

All you need to do is look at the Top 10 and realize that the real, unspoken reason these companies are "most admired" is because they are making the billionaire class more and more money. 🤣
Someone is mad Apple isn’t number 1

As a PhD student in corporate social responsibility, surely you know it's not an all or nothing proposition
Of course I do. But I do think that in consumer electronics, repairability should be a main tenet of every company that calls itself sustainable. À la Fairphone, to be precise. I know that  likes to boast about their sustainable manufacturing processes, recicled rare earths yadda yadda yadda... what about the sustainability of the products' life cycle? Don't you agree that making their products more repairable by end users would help in that regard too?

You need to tell that to Unicode. Apple doesn't decide to make new ones, they are just following Unicode guidelines so iPhone users don't end up with blank squares when another platform uses a new Emoji.

Exactly and yeah they are going nuts, and they aren’t going to listen to anyone.
