Well looks like this isn't the year for me to buy a new iMac unless it is one of the first to get the new chip. May this 2013 iMac last another year!

It can't be simple virtualization. They carefully avoided the topic of whether or not that Linux distro was running a native ARM version or if it was emulating X86. If they wanted to show Windows apps running, they would have.
It is the way (with computers).
Intel Macs will still be supported for a good number of years. This just opens new possibilities down the line.

yeah, but the G5 was completely unusable for anything other than a desktop. Intel Still has workable chips for their entire lineup.
I want to see it run Logic Pro X first in store and if it’s better than my current Mac I’m buying one next year

But will it as well run Windows (for ARM) via Boot Camp? I hope so, as Windows 10 for ARM processors does exist already. This entire decade I've been developing drivers and tools for Boot Camp (Trackpad++ drivers, for example). So I hope Boot Camp will not be gone...
This is a huge bet for Apple -- very interesting for a company the size of Apple to make such a bet. I hipe they know what they are doing as an Apple/MacOS fan. Heads at the top will roll if this fails.

Not at all. It's still going to run all of your apps that you are running now.... and futures apps too, at least for awhile.... I would imagine it will be a long while before we see apps that ONLY run on Apple A chips

It's the integrated graphics in the A12... no more external graphics most likely.

I assume there is more Intel pcs coming due to a phased hand over for the hardware, software and contract ease away from Intel.
