Even the die hard ATV users have to mod the standard config ATV to make it usable and then they are afraid to update it because Apple breaks all their changes.
If using my
tv daily or multiple times daily makes me a die hard user, then I am. I use it for movies (HD, SD - HD looks fine, not Blu-ray, but fine), my own ripped movies and tv shows, YouTube, and my entire music library - even streaming radio/scanners (no hack- works through iTunes just like any other media file). I have media synced and streamed, depending on what it is. I also am thinking about experimenting with XMBC and Boxee, for the fun of it, but it's not necessary at all. The only "mod" I've made is an upgrade to a 250MB drive.
I guess I don't get why just because it's not the end all uber configurable hack box, doesn't mean it's not a very useable device. It's also the most elegant of the interfaces I've used, though something like Hulu isn't too bad. (I did try the Panasonic VieraCast - it's a joke, to put it mildly.)
