Looking at an Hollywood Reporter article on potential Emmys winners I only see Apple TV + mentioned once.
Best Actress in a Drama Series
WILL WIN: Jennifer Aniston, The Morning Show (Apple TV+)
SHOULD WIN: Laura Linney, Ozark (Netflix)

Perhaps they will nab a couple more Sept 20, 2020 on ABC

The endemic negativity that pervades tech forums. Anything Apple sucks just because. Eighteen Emmy nominations for a first year is quite impressive, no matter what some tech forum "Debbie downers” say.
"I saw only the first episode of For All Mankind, so I know what I am talking about. Apple TV+ sucks."

"The Morning Show is about #MeToo and I am against equal rights for anyone but white male. Apple TV+ is a service for liberal viewers."

"People in Central Park sings all the time. Apple TV+ sucks."

Defending Jacob was pretty good. I still don’t get why The Morning Show gets all these accolades. I thought it was meh with gratuitous profanity that wasn’t necessary. In fact that just turned me off more than anything.

I. haven't watched everything on Apple TV+ but everything that I did watch was top notch... unlike Netflix which is 50% crap.

Come on, not everything on ATV+ is top notch, and not all of it is crap either. I cannot say a single show is excellent or very good, I enjoy The Morning Show, For All Mankind and Mystic Quest, but they have flaws as well that prevent them from excelling. I think See is absolutely horrendous and a big let down, and other shows in the library are not that outstanding.

Ted Lasso might be their breakout hit for next year's Emmys. You cannot help but smile while watching it even if you hate sports like me. Also, Morning Show has a knack for being topical and has rewritten their 2nd season to tackle COVID related stories. Look for nominations for at least these two shows next year.

Ted lasso is amazing. It seemed kinda dumb before I started watching it but it’s hilarious and almost painfully charming.

Ted Lasso was the first show I've watched in its entirety. Great show, nothing revolutionary, but very much enjoyable, plus you can see the unlimited budget Apple gives these shows in every single frame

If when rumors of Apple offering their own programming started, and someone here would have predicted 18 Emmy nominations, they may have been banned from the community.

Personally, I'm not over the moon with their selection yet, but that many nominations on a 1st-year service is unexpected/impressive. Will ensure the service has a fighting chance. This isn't Ping.

Apple would have more people watching if they didn’t have driver issues with the intel chips that make the Apple TV full screen viewing flicker black non stop

Honestly, I'm starting to come around on Apple TV+.

Recently got hooked to Ted Lasso, and I'm not even a fan of Sudeikis.
The British comedy series, both Ted Lasso and Trying are fantastic. Not to forget Defending Jacob, the best one of the bunch and again surprisingly Servant by M. Night and TMS.

Anyone yet to start, I highly recommend Ted Lasso. It's definitely enjoyable and feel-good of a show that actually makes me happy enough to rewatch it. 😄

Reminds me of this show, My Name is Earl.
Love these feel-good and positive shows.

Outstanding Digital Audio Codec
Outstanding HDR Video
Outstanding Color Processing
Outstanding Subtitles Font
...
So many categories yet not awarded by the Emmy’s

I enjoyed The Morning Show. Sad that I learned that is being rewriting for the pandemic. Will like to see the original idea. Servant is really good, so far. With Shyamalan you never know, it can be good as in Sixth Sense or plain awful as Unbreakable. Mythic Quest has some funny moments, but overall is poor. The lead actress is not fit for the part IMO. Will watch Defending Jacob and Ted Lasso as it’s being recommended here.

Then go and see what Samsung offers

No need to be so defensive, if you spend any time on these forums you will know that @BasicGreatGuy is a firm advocate of Apple. That doesn't mean they have to blindly love everything Apple does or isn't allowed to voice a critical opinion. This site would be an utterly dull place if every thread was chock full of people posting nothing but praise and adoration.

And why does that matter? They have 18 nominations, so people that matter think the shows are deserving.
My opinion matters to a very select inner circle;me. I don’t have to justify my personal opinion on why I don’t like certain shows or episodes. I don’t have to worry about competing with those who are allowed to vote for their own work or try and be socially correct. I just have to be me whether some on MacRumors agree or not.

Taking some forum heat because I didn’t carry the status quo and say good job, Apple doesn’t bother me at all. And people like yourself trying to belittle me for voicing an opinion to the contrary is a waste of your time, as it doesn‘t sway me in the least.

Unlike many others here and elsewhere, I don’t care what people in Hollywood think when it comes to what they think is good and worthy of some popularity contest award. I care about whether or not I like what i see, hear, or read. And in the end, that is all that matters.

Great for Apple and all of those involved for the Emmy nominations. Like several people have mentioned I, too, am a big fan of Mythic Quest and was surprised to see it not have any nominations. I enjoyed For All Mankind despite some faults. Servant didn't really work for me at first but I did grow to enjoy it towards the end. Biggest disappointment for me has been See which is gratuitously edgy and poorly written; shame as I was really looking forward to it and I see a lot of my friends names in the credits. Just started watching Little Voice and so far, so good. I am excited by the potential here.

All of that said I recognize those are my opinions and not overly relevant to the discussion. What is relevant is that that there are 18 Emmy nominations this year when quite a bit of Apple content may not have been eligible yet. Some people are commenting as if everything on Apple TV+ was potentially up for nomination but the cut off date was the end of May. Apple may have decided not to enter certain programs this round so that they could enter them next year. Personally I welcome any content being made as that is what puts bread on my table. As to the person who commented that they torrent everything I hope they do not mind me dropping by their house and helping myself to their stuff, it seems only fair.

How pathetic indeed. Maybe Apple will get some respect when the service is 47 and 23 years old like HBO and Netflix.

what does age have to do with anything? what does it matter how old HBO is. watchmen is a new series, any of the networks old or new could have thrown money at it and make it happen. apple may be new in the game but they have the deepest pockets of all the others. netflix makes shows with borrowed money.
