Poor strategy on their part to make it after the holidays. I think this past weekend would’ve been better, lots of people were together with their families and more people would’ve taken advantage of it, which could lead to more sign-ups.
disagree, January many people see that as an empty month with almost nothing planned. Perfect for watching some streaming content.

I have the Apple Music student subscription plan and apparently I'm supposed to have AppleTV+ for free, but never got around to setting it up. But I tried recently and it's like impossible to set up. Anyone else with an Apple Music student plan having any issues?

I can't turnaround without Apple offering me 3 months free AppleTV. It's in my Email, it's spammed in the settings app, it's in every device setup, it's cross-promoted with every piece of electronics I buy. Do they really think a free weekend is anything anyone will care about?

Apple: I simply don't care and it's not worth turning my expensive "premium" software and hardware experience into adware to promote it.

I tried really hard to like Apple TV+. I subscribed for over a year and watched over a dozen series, including all the usual suspects. I concluded that it's just not for me - the production values are high, but the writing and storytelling are consistently weak, bland and safe. I struggle to get through almost any show they put out. After cancelling about a year ago, I've now been given yet another free 3-month trial and honestly can't find anything worth watching - Shrinking, Silo, Bad Monkey - it's all just meh. Their original films, on the other hand, are truly awful. I wish Apple the best in making TV+ a mainstream streaming platform, as it seems that viewership has plateaued at a small niche, but I will not be one of those viewers. As a huge Apple fan and supporter, I can confidently say that their content just doesn't appeal to me at all.
Totally agree... its "safe". Predictable, consensual, inoffensive and slightly sweetened.

This is how I feel about SO much new streaming content, across platforms

This piece on Netflix and "why it looks like that" articulates a lot of my feelings about it all

I’ve had several free trials, and for the past 8 months or so it comes bundled with my TMobile, but, I’ve tried to watch a few times and it doesn’t do anything for me. I get it that some are liking their shows, I don’t. While I’m indirectly paying for it,TM is cheaper with better data than I had with VZ but if TM would drop it, I wouldn’t cry…

To each their own, but Silo and For All Man Kind are pretty awesome shows. Comedy isn’t my thing but I enjoyed the first season of shrinking and bad sisters. Some of the movies have been turds but I enjoyed the one with the deaf girl.

In what way does this make Apple desperate ? They are offering a free trial. Most companies do from time to time. Its a great way to get new users. I believe you are the desperate one looking for attention to which I am giving you. Now go away.
Apple has already done free trial at the beginning of this hobby. And they give free trial with any hardware purchase.

No thanks. Won’t use it even if it’s free. Tried it before and it’s rubbish. Have watched some trailers for other shows and nothing interests me.

Apple is desperate for people to subscribe lmao. Imagine Netflix doing this…not a chance!! They don’t need to ;)

If anybody is thinking about actually checking out, Apple TV+, I would like to suggest, watching for all mankind, see and severance. All super awesome shows.

Could not agree more with this. I struggle to stay awake through the shows. They’re all dark and dystopian and too many “someone wakes up to find their wholes lives changed” concepts. Lots of filler.

It's just a free trial to start the new year to give a peek to anyone interested

I don't think they are "desperate"

Their content largely hasn't been for me, but I'm not everyone

I've enjoyed For All Mankind, but less so as it has gone along.
It seemed a bit more focused and better written in the first 2 seasons to me

How come everyone says they are given free trials? I did not get a free trial with my new M4 mini. When you look at the small print, it excludes those who have previously taken up a free trial offer.

And this weekend offer appears not to include the UK. Is it USA only?

I'm not interested. They offered me a few free months for buying my iPhone and I never signed up for that deal.

No. We are all once again going to the gym everyday and be better human creatures and eat our broccoli. No time for tv.

February would be the sweet spot for this.
