I've watched Morning Show, See, For All Mankind, and every episode of Dickinson and I'm impressed with the quality of all of it. Really looking forward to these two new shows coming at the end of the month/beginning of December. As well as the Samual L Jackson movie coming early next year. This service is free to me for a year, so no complaints here. What I've seen is good enough that I'd give them 50 for a year as long as they keep introducing a show or two each month. I just hope they give us some more comedy soon. Dickinson is kinda funny but also really heavy.

Yeah - I’ve noticed a heavy emphasis on drama over comedy and reality tv. That’s fine for me - I pay for Hulu and HBO to access all the comedy shows I enjoy.

Apple will keep it. This is Tim Cook's vanity project. At least Apple doesn't have the same problem as Disney+ right now. Too many people, buffering, and crashing.
I’m thankful for Tim and his “vanity project.” Apple TV+ has been immensely enriching for me and has offered me solid entertainment enjoyment. I have enjoyed every second of viewing joy (aside from the first half hour or so when I have to invest in learning the characters and the world setup).

I love all the users who come here to praise Disney+ and bash Apple+. Once the rest of the world actually sees the dearth of content available on Disney's service, your comments will be enshrined here for us to laugh at.

Based on many comments, I think some people are seeing Disney+ & Apple TV+ as "either / or"....which isn't necessarily the case. There is content on BOTH services that many consumers will be watching. I know I'll be watching content from both.

It's not necessary to attack the content on one service to lift up the content on another. Obviously, at this point, they are offering different type of series, which is perfectly fine & acceptable. I don't expect to see The Morning Show, See or Truth Be Told on Disney +.....I also don't expect to see something like The Mandalorian or original Marvel series on Apple TV+.

There is content on both services that appeal to me...One of the great things in "the streaming wars" is that audiences have a choice & can find various entertainment options to suit their needs...often times, this comes from multiple streaming sites. There's no law that states if you sign up or watch Apple TV+, you can't watch Disney+ or vice versa.

As consumers, there's no need to "pit" AppleTV+ vs Disney+ against each other...they're different services.

I’m all for that actually. It’s just that Apple has to connect with my interests yet. Sci-fi. But good sci-fi. Mankind is more alternative history. See has blind people killing it. Hopefully they got more series in store. I hate seeing the renewals. Just takes up their budget with stuff I know I don’t like.
I would prefer streamers to have complete stories over a single series, and that’s it. kinda like k-dramas. No cliff hangers to milk the story for a second series that is never as good. No milking the success of the first series with a mediocre second series (looking at you, Jack Ryan on Prime). Stand alone, single series. The only exception should be the ones based on book series, but then risk is flaky actors getting worried about typecasting and buggering off, and changes in scriptwriters changing the vibe of the tale.

Bravo! A voice of reason in a sea of irrationality. Refreshing in today's social climate, where absolutely everything is a polarised, binary, love it or loathe it choice. A competition to see who can get the most likes for disliking something the most.

Dud?

Audience like the shows a lot, i wonder have there ever been better launch for Any video service? All of their biggest shows are getting great support and ratings from audience. For example See is currently imdb most popular tv show and morning show at place 5. Dickinson is getting very good feedback too.
Define "audience". Many people who "rave" about these shows on MR are Apple investors. They kind of have to do it.

Meanwhile Apple is sending emails out begging people to download Disney +. Still think there’s any streaming war going on here? Apple doesn’t care what service you buy as long as you do it through iTunes

Right, because those 10 shares of Apple stock will be so impacted by a post on MacRumors. Lol.

I don’t own a share of Apple. I just love the content and can say that unabashedly and without bias.

Few episodes in on "See" and I feel like I'm back watching sanitized major network programming again. Not 100% best way to describe it but it's what I got. The battle in the very first episode looked to be pretty awesome at first but then quickly realized this is definitely not a Netflix show. It felt so corporate and sterile when they cut away when someone took damage or something crazy was about to happen. Maybe I'm so used to Netflix and HBO showing gore and crazy stuff now but this was just really weird to watch. I'm not sure I'm going to finish the season just because every time I really get sucked into the story they cut away and it breaks my trance. I feel like I'm being cheated. I can't say I'm real impressed with the service so far.

No I haven't, I guess I need to keep plowing forward then. I find it odd that they would switch style in the middle of the season if episode 3 is more gritty than the first 2.

People who watch and enjoy the shows because they like watching shows they enjoy.

Anything else is an assumption on your part and a projection of your own bias.
And how do you know that people who leave positive comments about the shows on MR are doing so because they enjoy them and not because they are AAPL investors? That's just as much an assumption on your part for we know that many posters here own AAPL shares. For example, the difference between critics and viewers reviews for The Morning Show on Rotten Tomatoes is huge (62% vs 94%). Apple is known for rabid following (Cult of Mac anyone?) and it looks like the followers are being unnaturally enthusiastic about Apple TV+ shows.

Well certainly episode 3 is not short of violence. It's not exactly Ash vs. Evil Dead levels of gore, but it's stylishly done and doesn't go out of its way to not offend.

you know big crowd? I'm not talking about MR and what you said sounds really funny to me :)

I'm talking about the fact that most people have started to look these shows really like them, many say they are surprisingly good.

Like i said See is currently number one at imdb most popular tv shows, rotten tomatoes have very high viewers score for these shows.

Last night i started watching dickinson with my girlfriend and both enjoyed it, it feels fresh, it's funny and modern. So far we are liking all the biggest shows Apple is offering expect for all mankind which we haven't started yet, but According to comments, that's propably going to be great show too.

After watching a few of the Apple offerings, they are sub-direct-to-video productions. Not so much in production value, but entertainment value and central idea/controlling idea.

Time wasters.

Were you watching Helpsters? I would recommend trying For All Mankind, See, Dickinson, or The Morning Show. "sub-direct-to-video" productions do not have marquee actors like Jason Momoa or Joel Kinnaman. They also don't have big name producers and cinematography. They also don't have visuals or sound design like these shows. They also don't have this high level of entertainment value and brilliant central ideas.

Honestly, self-selecting polls of viewers are probably not that useful in determining how much the general population enjoys a show. Firstly, only people who are attracted to a show tune in to even form an opinion. Then, only those who care enough show up to polls to express an opinion.

But if you are going to look at IMDB's popularity ranking, consider what it is actually saying. See is getting more IMDB visits than any other show, but notice how much lower its rating is than other "popular" shows. Yes, more people are visiting IMDB to talk about See than The Mandelorian, but that is because more people are going there to express a dislike of See. Not that See's rating is bad exactly, but it isn't showing broad love for the show either.

The reality is that shows can be disliked or ignored by the general population, but have a small dedicated passionate audience. A show that is loved by its audience can be a dud from the network's perspective. We see loved shows cancelled all the time. We, the general public, simply don't have enough access to viewership metrics from streaming services to say much about the success and failures of shows.

Look at Netflix's The OA. It had IMDB reviews and ranking similar to See. It had a passionate fan base. But Netflix decided it didn't actually bring or keep subscribers, so it got the ax. Of course, Apple will be happy with program performance that isn't good enough for Neflix, simply because Apple is trying to build.

Negative on that front. I checked out the Disney+ app and found horrible and childish originals. Who wants a show about a fork? Noelle - seriously? Pixar IRL and Marvel "Heroes" that has nothing to do with Marvel characters? And releasing only one episode a week and starting with only one episode? What a crock of garbage.

They have only a few of the Marvel movies in their backlog also. And I have watched all the other old Disney content that appealed to me when they were released - purchased/rented through iTunes years ago.

For All Mankind is going to go places though. It's starting with a very grounded take on reality but I predict it will end up with colonization of Mars and an extra-planetary space force, like a more realistic take on Star Trek Enterprise, without actual aliens (only my assumption btw). Ronald Moore is Star Trek TNG and BSG royalty and he has 7 seasons planned for this show.

Also, SEE is the most groundbreaking idea for a post-apocalyptic epic I have ever seen. Nobody else would have the guts or fortitude to even give a crack at this idea. I really like how the producers pulled off the blind element - it is a very believable world to me (See the noise ropes connecting houses, and whips/sticks/dogs/horses to guide the blind).
The Disney+ content leaves Apple in the dust. The Morning Show, See, etc., all boring, bland content.

How about you try watching the Disney+ originals and get back to me. I recommend you start with Forky and Pixar IRL. Then watch kids make arts and crafts for good measure.

Also try watching the Apple TV+ originals before commenting.
