I've got a couple ATV4 questions

Is AirPlay improved? I think AP for everybody is a little squirelly but are there any significant upgrades to stability and speed with the ATV4 over the ATV3? A great example of what I'm asking is I frequently try to stream basketball games on Fox Sport Go via AP (cause the jerks don't have an app) and the stream is considerably less smooth on the TV compared to my MacBook.

Also, is the ESPN app any better? On the ATV3 it's basically worthless because you can connect, it'll stutter and freeze, just a whole host of problems. None of this has to do with my internet connection, which is strong, fast, and stable.

Thanks!

I have found Airplay to be even worse honestly...quite buggy.

I haven't had an issues with AirPlay, but it works fine on my 3rd gen, to be honest. I think most Airplay issues are router related. I have used my 3rd gen at several different places and it has always worked rock solid with AirPlay.

One thing I like about AirPlay in the 4th gen is scrubbing. If you watch the iOS Podcast app ( since Apple didn't include it with the 4th gen release), it makes it easier to skip through ads.

WatchESPN started off really buggy for me, but after maybe the first day or two of the bugginess, its been rock solid. I have no complaints with it at all after those first few buggy days.

I got my ATV4 a couple days ago. Wasn't planning to for a while, but I was near Best Buy, so...

I absolutely love it. My kids and I have been playing games all weekend. The app store really is a game changer for this device. Still not a lot to choose from right now, but there is some good stuff there. All the apps seem to work perfectly for me (Netflix, WatchESPN, Plex...it's all smooth).

While on tv mode can we change input (PlayStation,tv,Apple TV etc) and is it possible to use Apple TV remote to change tv channels ?.... I really want to get rid of my tv controller.

AFAIK, you can only change volume. However, you can program IR commands. So, in theory you could put channel up/down under the volume up/down buttons.

Otherwise, Logitech Harmony....

I've had the exact same experience. Picked one up last Thursday and my family used it the whole weekend. Netflix, HBO Go, Alto's Adventure, Crossy Road . . . they all work perfectly. All my Apple Music playlists etc were just there. Remote works as advertised too. Absolutely zero issues. Very happy with it.

Having the same issues with airplay. Anytime I try to stream something using the nfl app or like highlights of a football/basketball game from my mac or my iPhone the video won't stream because the internets so slow but as soon as I turn off airplay it'll stream fine on my computer. Is it my internet or is it just airplay?

Try AirPlaying your whole device to ATV using the control panel and turning on mirroring. That has worked well for me. iPad works great that way.

I have both Air Video HD and have now installed Plex. These two apps are truly game changers for me with the Apple TV. The games are an added bonus. Not sure about the price but I'm pretty sure it is worth it long term.

Just hope Apple get APIs out there to the likes of Plex for Universal Search.
