There are better shows than Ted Lasso, but I think what critics and audiences like about it so much is how refreshing it is. It's positive, full of energy and relatable; something we haven't seen on TV in a very, very long time. After almost a decade of toxic television thanks to Netflix, I guess people finally found characters they can truly identify with. Bravo!

If you haven't seen this show, give it a shot. It's worth seeing.

I think you’re right. The naive positivity of Jason is what’s carrying this show. Take him out of the show and there’s nothing left.

Rebecca was interesting too, but it would be just another office drama-comedy.

What I love about Ted Lasso is just how absolutely wholesome it is. Every single character is so well developed. It alone is worth having Apple TV+, even though I also adore Mythic Quest.
Mythic Quest was great. Although there was that one episode that (though also great) felt really out of place.

I think one of the magic ingredients Ted Lasso had was that appealed to audiences on both sides of the pond. I don't mean because it was the tried and tested "An American in the UK" formula, but because the comedy got it right. You get so many American comedy series which are highly popular in the US but don't take off in the UK (and vice versa) because, in general, the sense of humour is different and doesn't always translate, but Ted Lasso managed to pull this off. I was actually surprised it was so successful in the US as I found much of the humour (and the style of the show as a whole) to be very British.

Im not sure about US idea of comedy as i found it pretty cringe and not in a good way. I only watched episode 1 maybe it improved!

Enjoyed it, couple of minor points as its clearly US writtne and while the British charaters are mainly correct we would not say locker room or tie, we would say dressing room and draw.

Cute show but Better Things is about a billion times better, in fact it is one of the best tv shows ever made. It should win every category, Pamela Adlon should win everything, including best Male, best supporting actor, best female, best everytying.

My wife and I watched it due to all the hype and after the first episode she said "what's so great about it?"....but after watching the entire season it was one of her favorite shows in quite a while. Give it another chance.

It's not you. It really is quite shallow with a very predictable storyline, one dimensional caricatures, stereotypes and childish jokes. Jason, as the naive and optimistic lead carries this whole thing. I guess the show came around at the exact right moment as it's exactly what people need right now to lift their mood a bit. But stating it's the best show in a decade is quite a stretch.

No it stayed the same the whole series, mediocre, cutesy 'murrica' showing the world usa usa usa values always win above all... well in fantasy land anyway.
Huh. So there are two Ted Lasso shows, because that’s not the one I watched. Good to know.

I don’t pay for any streaming services so I haven’t seen any of these shows. The free-to-air networks need to up their game.

Just look at that list. It is a sad time for comedy television. I challenge anyone to remember one funny line from those shows. Give me a “master of your domain”, or I’ll even settle for a “pretty, pretty, pretty ... pretty good” line.

“None of them were curious. If they were, they would have asked questions. Questions like, ‘Have you played much darts, Ted?’”

”How many countries are in this country?”

I enjoyed it.

Still think Schitt's Creek was better though.
It's hard to compare because we've only had one season of Ted Lasso, but 6 seasons of Schitt's Creek.

The final season of Schitt's Creek was not it's best, and not as good as the first season of Ted Laso imo. But overall, Schitt's Creek was a great show and super fun to watch. Unfortunately, there is no awards that takes a look at an entire series holistically, that I know of.

As much as I loved Ted Lasso, I think it should have been given to Schitt's Creek, Eugene Levy and Annie Murphy. Ted Lasso had an amazing first season and I think it is great, but Schitt's Creek final season was just stellar.
