Well deserved! So well written. Love this show. I really didn’t know what to expect when I started it. Shows like Big Bang are outstanding, but also very formulmatic - well borrowed from Friends, Fraser, Cheers, Seinfeld. Take an ensemble cast, with one character OCD, one slapstick, one ’straight man”, a love interest/triangle between a few . . . Etc. They are all excellent when the cast is picked well and the writing on-point. but Ted Lasso feels different and fresh to me. The show really has heart.

It’s nice that apple has money to pay for these awards. No way it as funny as Schitt’s creek
I don’t think the award is for which is the funniest.

Schitt’s Creek is funnier, but it also put comedy more in the forefront, especially early on. Even later as the characters matured, comedy was still more of the focus than in Ted Lasso, IMO.

I like both shows a lot, so I can’t get too wound up about one getting picked over the other. I’m just glad both exist and wish I could watch new episodes of both.

I think it was meant to, to be fair.
It had to be. I think it worked as a good episode on its own, but I felt like the payoff was poor in the context of the season. I don't want to give spoilers, so I will leave it as it just didn't sit well with me. Maybe I am being forgetful, but I feel like it was only referenced by one other episode.

The Flight Attendant is considered a comedy? While it has comedic relief, I wouldn't call it a comedy.

As much as I loved Ted Lasso, I think it should have been given to Schitt's Creek, Eugene Levy and Annie Murphy. Ted Lasso had an amazing first season and I think it is great, but Schitt's Creek final season was just stellar.
SC's last season was far and away its absolute worst though.

Lasso is a great show. What We Do In The Shadows is another great one that probably doesn't get much attention. Much like Man Seeking Woman, when it was on FX great show that a lot of people probably missed watching.

I think you’re right. The naive positivity of Jason is what’s carrying this show. Take him out of the show and there’s nothing left.
The whole point of the show is that Ted Lasso isn't actually naive in his positivity, he just portrays it that way to accomplish his goals.

It's not you. It really is quite shallow with a very predictable storyline, one dimensional caricatures, stereotypes and childish jokes. Jason, as the naive and optimistic lead carries this whole thing. I guess the show came around at the exact right moment as it's exactly what people need right now to lift their mood a bit. But stating it's the best show in a decade is quite a stretch.
Not a stretch at all, and the characters were anything but one dimensional or stereotypical or childish. Some very very nuanced character work is what made this show one of the best comedies in recent memory for me.

The final season of Schitt's Creek was not it's best, and not as good as the first season of Ted Laso imo. But overall, Schitt's Creek was a great show and super fun to watch.
Surprised to hear you say that as I loved the finale season of Schitt’s just as much as seasons 3, 4 & 5 (it took a couple seasons and some character development for me to fall in love with it).

I loved it too. It's just really hard to compare the last season of a show with momentum to the first season of a new show on a new streaming service. A more apples-to-apples to comparison would season 1 of Schutt's Creek with season 1 of Ted Lasso. There, I think Ted Lasso wins easily.

If there is one thing that is certain, lots of people commenting on the quality of the show didn't watch it or give it more than 1 episode.

True, but the award is for shows in 2020. So the competition is Season 5 of Schitt's Creek vs Season 1 of Ted Lasso, which is why I think Shitt's Creek was much better and a great wrap up to all the character stories.

Just my opinion but I loved this show, you could launch this on any network and it'd be a hit, it's popularity is only limited by it being on Apple TV which is still little known about at least over here.

I might be in the UK but I'm not a massive football fan but the show still got me laughing and brought me back week on week, only sad it's supposedly limited to 3 seasons ☹️

As to buying awards, I kinda doubt Apple would make this their prime candidate what with shows like The Morning Show & For All Mankind on their books!
