Eagles are going to trounce the Chiefs. No 3-peat.
I'm going with Taylor swift's boyfriend's team. But, I'm a pats fan, so I don't have a dog in the fight. We had our run and it was glorious. Now is the time for us to watch the super bowl with a lot less stress.

I think it's actually called:"Non-American football" or soccer if you want to be correct.
It's actually called Association Football. Everyone outside of the United States (for the most part) calls it football. In the United States, it's called soccer.

MLS Fans*. I know zero of them.
The "S" in MLS stands for soccer. So, still soccer fans. I know several. I suspect this kind of programming is for those people and not for people who aren't soccer fans. Also not for soccer fans who don't like American soccer I would guess. But That is just the obvious answer. Hope that helps.

Yeah, I know. I was just flipping the script on those who would have Americans call soccer "football" instead of soccer. They typically correct people by calling football "American football". Hence the Non-American football comment.

I would gladly pay $14.99/month to get rid of the hardcoded MLS tab in the TV app menu.

Exactly. This reminds me of bloatware from my Windows days. Some very specific US thing no one in the rest of the world cares about is hardcoded in the top level menu of Apple’s main media app.

Why don't professional sports leagues start their own streaming channels like every movie studios did ? That would be so simpler. You want hockey? The pay for the NHL streaming service.

I don't like the trend of streaming services going into professional sports. I don't watch any and I was glad to finally have services where I could pay for better cinematic content and not pay even more because of excessive sports diffusion rights. I don't mind paying higher costs for quality cinematic content on streaming services. I just don't want to pay for sports.

I hope this doesn’t mean higher prices for Apple TV+. Because I have less than no interest in soccer.
Its just an additional "Sunday night" game that's being added. Similar to the Friday Night Baseball.

They've offered specialty games for a few years now, so it won't have an impact on the price.

Because money. And fans.

Money: Take the NFL off cable and broadcast TV and suddenly OOPS there go the ad dollars, because there are fewer eyeballs on the games (and, therefore, the ads). Same for other professional sports.

Fans: Not everyone has reliable high speed internet. They have had decades to build infrastructure and businesses for cable, broadcast and satellite. If you turned that all off and suddenly everyone had to buy NFL or NHL or MLB or Premier League or Bundesliga streaming channels or whatever it would look like, people would riot.

I'd love for Apple to begin introducing more live content interspersed with Apple Originals. Think of it as a counterpart to Apple Music's Radio 1, it'd be great if we could "tune into" Apple TV+

Baseball on Fridays, Soccer on Sundays, Apple News Today weeknights at 8pm, then fill in the rest of the schedule with when Apple Originals get released, like Severance on Friday. Maybe more sports like F1 Sunday afternoons, and Apple Music Live shows when they occur. I feel like Apple TV+ is just getting started.

Interesting idea, but baseball and soccer likely already cost them money, F1 racing would cost them more, as well as regular live music shows (big acts would cost a lot, small acts / venues would need a lot of vetting), and if they put objective news on, half the country would boycott, because it's not what Fox is telling them - they have News+, but that's an aggregator and can be tuned to each person's tastes.

I'd like to see them expand, carefully, in ways that keep up quality without making the price skyrocket.

Actually it’s just called “football”. It’s retronym is “association football”, to distinguish it from the American derivative of it, known as “gridiron football”, which I prefer to call “hand-egg”, which is more accurately descriptive.

All of these things (except F1*) are already on Apple platforms.

Apple News Today is an existing news program on every morning in the News app (or Podcasts app outside the US) — and yes, it's pretty objective straight news. Baseball and now Soccer are on Fridays and Sundays. Apple Music already organizes Apple Music Live shows with major artists — Bjork just played a live show on Apple TV this week. And of course, Apple already has their Originals tv shows and movies.

All of this content already exists. A linear channel would just insert them into a scheduled play feed. Apple has been building up TV+ as something different, not trying to compete with Netflix's 3rd party content licensing or Disney's massive IP library. Having a linear channel would be very much in line with what Apple is doing with Apple Music and complementary to Apple TV's growth into sports and other live content.

*Apple has been widely reported to being in discussions to bring Formula 1 to Apple TV+

Not going to pay for any streams until they stream it in 4k in good quality all in one place, which isn’t going to happen lol.

Paying for every league and CL separately big bucks to watch it in HD is a joke.

Good to see that the content is available in many regions outside the US. Subscription prices are getting costly.

Formula 1 does have its own streaming service and it's not a bad deal.

Despite being a fan I want my streaming of the non bloated kind with only movies and TV shows (also no games please).

Live sports is very expensive. The only reason Apple is offering this is because soccer doesn't have that much value in the USA. If they were to offer the Champions League in Europe or any domestic league (doesn't even have to be the EPL which is the most expensive) that would be something.
