I'm sorry but if you can't understand the remote, that's on you. My 70 year old technologically illiterate Dad figured it out in no time.

That Apple TV is great, which is why a lot of people have one. If you don't like it don't buy it.
No see I'm intelligent enough to understand that it's a poor design. It's simple to use as far as button functionality. It's downfalls are ergonomics and design in general, as I said.

The Nintendo has 2 games. It will fail as well (starting in 2018 sales will decline massively).

Lmao! The Nintendo Switch is a huge success already. It's THE best selling home console Nintendo has ever made since March. Probably overall by Nintendo by now.

One thing I want  to improve the Remote is to only click the SIRI button to use it, not click & hold. I find that tiresome.

Dear lord. I thought after the 90's people had exercised more. We've evolved to use touch screens to the point where pressing & hold a button with hardly any force required is tiresome for the average person!

Whatever helps you sleep at night ;)
The thing about most people is that they accept designs no matter what, without thinking about why it is good or bad. Most people are like sheep and could be led to slaughter because they aren't intelligent enough to rationalize on their own. That's why when someone makes a negative accusation about say an Apple product for example, and let's say hypothetically their accusation is based on sound logic; still, the non-thinkers will disagree vehemently because that's what non-thinkers do, honestly. There's no changing their minds, and that's not even a non-thinkers problem, that's just a human problem.

ATV3 was the worst Apple product I have ever owned (not counting their mice). Lot of ATV4's features intrigued me, and I was tempted, but I spent a week with one in an AirBNB and realized I dodged a bullet. Low on features as I would expect from an Apple TV, and the touchpad is just annoying, even after you learn to use it. And the touchpad remote is so unintuitive it takes several training sessions before someone else can use it. Sad that Apple can't get this right.

Now if they were to add Touch ID to the remote with profiles including child profiles (parental controls), I might be tempted to suffer through the awful touchpad interface enough to see if it gets better after more than a week. I'll be very surprised if the next iteration doesn't have something like that.

I'll keep using my Roku 3's and Chromecasts for now. Roku 3 has it's shortcomings, but I've never seen anyone struggle to use one, even first-time users.

It must be really frustrating going through life convinced that you are so much smarter than everyone else.

Tiresome maybe the wrong word but it will be much better experience just clicking the button and talk and don't have to remember to hold it for as long as you speak. It's just unnatural.

Meh, I use the hell out of my ATV3 and plan on buying the next gen when it arrives.

Different strokes ;)

It's somewhat natural to me for two reasons:
Living in an apartment building in the 80's and using an intercom system that orettt much worked like Star Trek comma to the bridge.
Secondly, having the remote on the couch, accidentally sitting on it or wedged between Cushings may activate a single button Press. Btw my leather couch is black so easy to miss the remote - bad habit not placing on coffee table.

Tiresome is a actually the correct word. The guy responding to you just doesn't know what it means because they're confusing it with the word tiring.

Please tell us again that we are all non-thinking sheep who like the Apple TV remote solely because we're non-thinkers and have been duped by Cupertino.

Because we didn't get your message the first ten times you said it. You know, because we're so naive.

Only mentioned anything about that in one post.

We have an ATV3, and I think it's great. For our family, it's the perfect unitasker for watching online video (itunes, Netflix, and YouTube) on our TV.

And as far as I know, it's the only (or at least easiest) way to access iTunes content on your TV (unless you hook up a computer directly).

I don't have any issues with my ATV4. My grip is with the apps. There are some big name apps that are absolutely junk. Yes, I know this isn't Apple's fault, but when I have to use the MLB.tv app on my PS4 it reflects poorly on Apple. There are several video apps that constantly crash or simply won't load. Again, I know this isn't apples fault, but they might need a better screening process for apps.

I know the difference yet the presumption is still the same. It's an action that only those that have everything served as ease of use are over extending such a need. Hence why I stated "different strokes" your opinion is just as valid as mine, perception is a great thing. Neither is right/wrong but at least we've listened and understand both points of views. That's all. I'm sure changes or adjustments will occur in favour of those hat have a louder voice pleading for that change.

Cheers.

Kind of a weird thread. Come here to complain about an Apple product and that others do it better. Then why not just buy the other product and go about your business? And then claim the reasoning is Apple can do better. Of course they could but they haven't. I often wonder why people complain about what Apple could do, even though there are other options that do it better. Talk about brand loyalty. It's kind of like saying if only you could be like your sister... Weird.

BTW my Apple TV 4 works great. If it didn't I'd buy something else...

....but then there are apps on Apple TV that blow away the rest. Try YouTube on Roku. You'll want to pull your hair out.
