Apple and Comcast today announced that Apple TV+ will be available across Xfinity X1, Xfinity Flex, and XClass TV on all eligible devices starting today and in the coming days.

As part of the expansion of TV+ across Comcast services, Apple will be offering Xfinity customers access to the "first seasons of many of its most popular shows, as well as the blockbuster Apple Original film “Greyhound" for free, without any sign up required.

Customers who are not currently subscribed to Apple TV+ will be able to receive a three-month free trial of the streaming platform when they sign up on their Xfinity device by April 25.

Apple TV+'s expansion to Comcast services was teased by the company's CEO in October. "Our work with Comcast lights up that experience for tens of millions of new devices, and we are thrilled that so many Comcast customers have a compelling way to enjoy their new favorite shows on Apple TV+," said Peter Stern, Apple's vice president of services.

Yes, it's time to give us what we really want which is the AppleTV Stream app so we can ditch all the expensive monthly charges for multiple TV boxes. It's already ridiculous I pay over $20 in "fees". In general, I feel like "streaming" services are headed to cable prices. I had to ditch Hulu+Live TV because it was getting over $90/month.

Wasn’t there supposed to be a (an?) Xfinity AppleTV streaming app as part of this launch?
Yes. Still waiting for Xfinity Stream on my Apple TV 4K. Really don’t care if Apple TV+ is on my X1. It’s already on everything else I have.
Same… is Apple really so stupid, not to leverage for their own hardware customers?

I have an Apple TV, but it largely sits unused, compared to my Roku Ultra in HDMI1. Really has been a complete waste of $$. Gets clearer and clearer that Apple just doesn't care anymore; it is all about the money with this Exec team.

Bit confused by the article.

I'm guessing the actual announcement here is that the TV app has been ported to Comcast's puck?

Got rid of Comcast last year when they wouldn't work on getting me a lower bill (and their internet only options stunk) and jumped to AT&T for Gig speed & unlimited data and then YouTube TV for "cable" channels. So much better not getting nickeled and dimed for different streaming boxes, HD/4k content, etc.

YouTube TV is literally the only live TV service that nickels and dimes for 4K. And it’s not even reasonable. $20 a month for like 1-2 4K games a week.

I don't pay for the 4k on YouTube TV as there isn't really enough of the channels that support it and I mostly have it for shows my wife likes to watch. As soon as I can find a way to drop it, I definitely will. I was speaking more generally about dealing with Telecoms for Cable and all the extra fees they charge.

EDIT - One of my favorite things about YouTube TV is the is no cap on how much you can DVR. After a brief search, looks like FuboTV is the only other live TV services that offer 4k, and it's still pretty limiited. So I guess at least YTTV offers 4k as an option?

Yeah I ****ing hate the Xfinity boxes, menu systems...everything about them. Last thing I want to do is get to ATV+ on them. But OTOH definitely want an Xfinity Stream app for the ATV!
I still have Xfinity for my mother and for live sports. I tried to show her how to load Netflix on the cable box, and it’s an absolute nightmare. It’s hard to find and is ridiculously slow. There is no good reason that my expensive cable box is so, so bad compared to my Roku boxes.

I’ll stick to my Apple TV. At least I can use my iPhone as a keyboard to search in all programs I access. Xfinity box? Slow and cumbersome to search.

Have you ever tried the Xfinity Remote app for iPhone or voice control on Comcast remote?

I’m thinking announcement about that at tomorrow’s Apple event? (With no log in sign on needed added to it as well?)

I’m also hoping for new Apple TV announcement with M1 chip for gaming.

I hadn't heard anything about an Apple TV as an upgrade possibility, although I'm sure it could totally fly under the radar. Are you wishcasting or have you heard something? I just finally bought one last year as we "cut the cord" and the Google Chromecast didn't have quite enough ram to hold onto stuff for my tastes.

I've been enjoying the new Apple TV+ show "Severance," even if it is fairly anxiety inducing. It's starting to be worth the price given the breadth of content, especially if you have it bundled into Apple One like me.

As a parent of a toddler, Fraggle Rock is a solid choice. I need to watch more TV+ content though. Yeah, Apple One is practically a no-brainer if you need a modicum of iCloud storage and use the Apple Music family plan.

In the meanwhile Comcast doesn't provide a Xfinity Stream App to dump their set-top-boxes for the Apple TV. Some TVs brands are offered that. Also Charter Spectrum offers their own app that works on a Apple TV 4K as a comparison

Maybe we'll finally get single sign on with Comcast.

And maybe we'll also get world peace and a delicious calorie-free ice cream.
That would be very wishful, I have a iPad setup with numerous bookmarked URLs for entering codes to enable Comcast customer verification. Its a PITA to always be entering codes on more then one ATV4k over and over. How about Apple provide a alternative solution for its user community?
