Ugh just finished episode 2. I think the thing that drives me in this series is the unknown/mystery. Episode 1 of season 2 was still intriguing to me as we didn't know what Juliette was getting into. Episode 2 was about as interesting as a political drama. Hopefully we get back to JL next episode!

I'm not a big fan of these studios stringing viewers along with one episode a week. Disney does this and it kind of speaks to the volume of good content they have, or really the lack thereof. Netflix and Prime just dump the whole season when it hits, they don't even need to string anyone along, viewers pay their fees and never look back. There's so little content I want from Apple (and Disney) that I wait until whatever I want is full released, then watch it within one month. Instead of $10 for four episodes, I get the whole season for the same price. Yes, I'm cheap, but I need these small victories in life.

Prime releases episodes weekly. Some do 2 episodes per week.

Netflix releases episodes in batches, or “parts” for their biggest shows.

Prime releases episodes weekly - usually releasing 2 or 3 episodes at a series launch just to get some traction.

It's true for new shows like Rings of Power, but it's also true going back to S1 of Goliath, Mrs. Maisel and The Man in the High Castle.

Only Netflix has ever dumped all episodes for their new release originals. The solution is just to wait until several series you want to watch have all episodes available, subscribe for a month, watch everything, and then cancel. If your preference is to binge watch, then you just have to wait a few weeks longer.

Good to have an earlier release date for the episode so that people can watch it during the holiday. However the real issue is the long time gap between seasons. Though not officially renewed, expecting a season 3. Highly probable that Season 3 will not be airing in 2025.

It took me 3 times to start season 1. When I finally gave it the attention it deserved, I loved it. I’m holding off on season 2 until a majority of the episodes are available. I prefer the binge style watching of shows. Looking forward to season 2, but I‘ll be waiting until Christmas time to get started.
I was going to do this, but I enjoy talking about the episodes weekly with friends.

For us very “mature” viewers, i wouldnt even consider this a trip back in time. It just seems normal to me!
1950s/1960s, here I come!

Wait, no I wasn't serious, unhand me!...

On next week's episode: "They Didn't Unhand Him!"

My thinking on this: not having Juliette in S2E2 amps up the tension, for a full episode, as to what's happening to her in the other silo with the recluse (so, amplifying the unknown/mystery), while also allowing more focus on the relationship between Mayor Bernard Holland and Judge Meadows, to reveal they have a more complex history between them than might have been implied before, which may include having some knowledge about the Silo's purpose and its builders, as well as possibly already knowing that there's more than one silo, before Juliette's helmet cam showed them.

I still don’t like the whole season spreading out over weeks and weeks. Just give me the season, and let me watch at my own pace
But would you rather receive some episodes now before January 2025 when the last episode is released

Waiting is a very reasonable thing to do, but I’m not sure I’d say it’s fair to say you’re being strung along. Perhaps if the episodes were unavailable after a few weeks, but you’ve identified the flexibility in streaming: watch now or wait.

Nice. Even though I never start a new series until all the episodes are out. I find it baffling that some people can’t wait and actually.. like waiting a week for each episode? […]

I agree it’s a reasonable balance. Wait if you have the ability to sit through 12 hours of episodes in a day or two, or watch it as it’s released.

[…]

What they don't want is users binging a show and then cancelling at the end of the month. They want to string you along as you're have a good reason to keep the service around from one month to the next.

[…]

That might be true, but I doubt it’s a big motivating factor: otherwise they’d prevent watching old content after a period of time. It would become the ‘Disney vault’ releasing old content for a few months and locking it back up.

Seems to me that Apple is providing the best of both worlds, depending on what type of viewer you are.

Binge watching is fun. You do have that option by waiting several weeks for the whole season to be released. 😬

Exactly.

Indeed useless flashbacks that precede season 1 of YOUTHFUL days is NOT relevant to current situation and it's just useless filler.
Maybe those flashbacks will inform events later in the season.

I agree the first episode was a bit slow and was disappointed that ep 2 did not pick up where ep 1 left off. Episode 2 focused on Juliette's journey and episode 2 focused on the rest of the silo. I expect episode 3 to connect the 2.

Remember the Silo TV series is based on a book trilogy, and that the second book in the series, "Shift", largely covers events in the silo prior to the events shown in Silo season 1, in order to explain why the silos are run the way they are, including why the specific silo depicted in season 1 (and possibly the other silos too) instituted a crackdown, after the rebellions, on "artifacts" produced in the outside world prior to the silo system. So it makes sense to include, in the TV series, scenes from the silo's earlier days.
