I wanted to like this show. You get wrapped up in the great pace and cinematography. Then all of a sudden, BAM, giant monologue that feels a bit too opinionated.
Big on style, small on substance from opinionated producers? I'm really surprised to see something like that from Apple.

The show's got a good premise, and I enjoyed the first episode, so I'm willing to complete the first season before judging fully. But episode four was a mess.

I won't dip into spoiler territory, but the way the family gets out of that episode's challenging situation makes absolutely zero sense. I don't mean it couldn't make sense, just that it doesn't. The writing was incredibly weak. Characters seem to have a near-psychic sense of situations and settings they've never previously encountered, and they're able to influence other characters simply because they want to. Worse, one character completely changes direction not only without any realistic motivation, but despite near abject terror of what will happen if they do. Worst of all, that character's nigh-impossible choice was made despite the ACTUAL impossibility of accomplishing their goal . . . which they accomplish anyway, without the tiniest bit of challenge or consequence.

I want to like the show, but I'm not hopeful.

Will I enjoy the show overall, it should be called something else besides 'Mosquito Coast' as it, to this point, is divergent from the book in most ways a movie could be from the actual novel. It's 'Mosquito Coast' in name only... Maybe the next season...

Did they actually cancel anything after one season yet? That’s what Netflix used to be
They haven't officially cancelled it but Amazing Stories has been out for a while and it was boring and seems like they wont be renewing it.

It feels like The Morning Show was cancelled but I suppose one day we will see a second season.
No it hasn't they have confirmed that its coming back this summer. I assume they will show a trailer during WWDC as they seem to be showing trailers for their big shows during Apple Events

It wasn't. They had to rewrite most of season 2 to include a covid narrative. It kind of sucks because I don't know anyone who wants to hear or see anything covid related anymore

I like this show a lot. For what it's worth, I had no preconceived notions going in... I didn't read reviews, I didn't read the book, and I didn't see the movie.

I have enjoyed most of the Apple TV+ shows I've watched, including Truth Be Told, Defending Jacob, For All Mankind, Home Before Dark, and Trying.

Perhaps the second season will reveal why it is they are on the run.
lol this is what i'm thinking. this show kinda looks like a poor man's version of ozark. spending an entire season dangling a carrot on a stick. was interested in giving it a chance because of theroux in the leftovers, but it just seems like a boring show.

I love this show and actually find the character development interesting (although agree it can feel a bit slow sometimes). Each episode has a good twist. Might be better to binge it than watch it with weeklong breaks in between. Excited for season 2!
