Yes, I believe it was cancelled because of budget vs. eyeballs. It was an expensive series with all the effects and sets. Plus it was a good stopping point given what happens in book 7. It's just the show runner wanted 8-10 episodes to finish the arc and Amazon only wanted to give them 6. So I don't think was stopped due to the allegation against Anvar. They did an in depth investigation of his actions and didn't find any issues with anyone other than him. Alex was out after season 5 wrapped and they went back in to film the needed scenes. And it was before season 6 began filming.

I don't know if you've read the books. I didn't but I jumped into book 7and am now about 1/3 of the way it. Very enlightening and lots of good explanation about old Proto and Laconia and Duarte. They didn't really get into all that, from what I understand, in book 6 as they concentrated on finishing up the war with the Free Navy.

I agree Amazon got cheap for some reason and could have let them go at least 8 episodes to finish the series. Maybe one day they will go back and finish the remaining trilogy .
I hope they finish it. I’ve read all the books and the series does do it justice even if there are some modifications for television.

I think however the large time gap after the last series might be a continuity issue though. Laconia needs time to develop.

Huge disappointment. Horrible acting, horrible directing… not much to like. Forced myself to watch the entire first episode, but couldn’t get past the second. I’m shocked there’s a second season, but I guess it’s a bad look if Apple canceled all their flops, of which there are many, after the first season.

I stuck this show out to the end of Season 1. It's a puzzling one. 50% amazing ( Games of Thrones in Space etc ) 50% Schlock amateur fanboy rubbish ( Star Wars Lite ). I think the amazing bit is from the book and the rubbish the bolted on bits that the scriptwriters have added.

I don't think that's a fair comparison. The Hobbit was unnecessarily stretched (I thought the LOTR trilogy was well done, though). It was fan-fiction + the "need" to echo the formula for LOTR.
I keep hoping that one day, with enough time and resources (and probably a lot of CGI help to recreate missing scenes), someone will be able to take all 8 hours and 52 minutes the Jackson's 3 Hobbit movies and edit it down into something resembling a 2-3 hour movie that follows the original book.

What he did with Lord of the Rings was awesome, with a few flaws. What he did with The Hobbit (all the fan-fiction, as you say) felt like an epic cash grab.

It's actually the opposite - the amazing bits everyone liked (the Cleons storyline) is 100% fresh from the scriptwriters.

The lower quality stuff are the parts that are lifted from the books and modified... (I still enjoyed them, but as everyone else, I enjoyed the Cleon storyline more)

100% The Cleons are the most fascinating story here. I'm actually baffled at the people who actually thought book Foundation was in any way shape or form going to make for a tv show without huge adaptive changes*. That, coupled with the incredible set design, locations, actors and even the weekly liner notes in form of the podcast, makes this a sci-fi spectacle to almost equal Dune in my opinion.

*It's called Foundation for a reason.

I understand why Apple wants another “Game of Thrones”. Everyone in Hollywood does. But wasn’t “See” supposed to fill that niche? Aren’t there enough people swooning over Jason Mamoa and his tattoos?

Or, if that‘s not enough, there are other books that they could have adapted more appropriately. “The Broken Sword”, for example. Rape, murder, incest, elf women who kill their lovers as they sleep, a hero who kills his sister’s betrothed in a fit of jealous rage — GRRM himself couldn’t top that. Why bastardize Asimov’s work?

Praising a show for its special effects, set design, locations, actors, etc. instead of its story just emphasizes how bad the writing is. As Asimov said, watching a show just for the pretty pictures is like reading a bad book just for the dirty parts.

One thing I noticed is that spatial audio works magic with the show, more so than other streaming services. Won't be surprised if Apple specifically goes out of their way to make sure that their content is optimised for their own hardware.

A Slight departure from the book, as the Warlord had no psychic ability, it was the Mule/Magnifico that had those
The Mule wasn’t even in the first book, if I recall.
And the second foundation, which has already been introduced, was a huge “holy s***” moment in the books when the reader learns of its existence. I can’t for the life of me understand why they totally ruined this moment.

Each foundation booklet ended in spectacular moments, and the series isn’t cashing in on these moments at all. It’s blowing thru them, spoiling them well in advance. I don’t get it.

It’s from the same guy who wrote Justice League and Batman v Superman. What do you expect?

Spoiler: In the finale, Hari and Cleon realize they both had mothers named Martha.

Well, given what the characters initially believed about the Mule, this description may be in-character perspectives at the start of the season, to avoid spoiling the conclusion of that plot arc, same as a summary of The Empire Strikes Back should not describe Darth Vader as Luke’s Father.

Bruh ... that was a good scene in Empire ... it added synergistically to the movies that followed. Do you want terrible writing? Watch Episode 3 of Star Wars, which destroyed everything cool and evil about Darth Vader in less than 5mins and with 1 long, drawn-out word.

I feel from the start Foundation on AppleTV was supposed to live on its own, not to copy visual, writing, or even photographic styles done in other attempts before. Let's just give it its fair due.

I loved this series. But I think the anti-LGBTQ author has made enough money off the books and the series. He's a despicable human being. Just like JKRowling.
Please tell me there is a substantial reason for stating someone is dispicable because they are anti-LGBTQ, please. Seems too much hate in this world for the same of hating because "you & I disagree" (generally speaking), but it may simply be people who have a disagreement of opinion. Have these people acted out criminally, or directly hurt people or just statements of their opinions have a larger target than Joe down the block because they're famous or people can more intently listen to what they say based on their fame?

This show has little to do with the source material, and would be better as a TV movie than a series. The first season had good moments but was already a little thin.

I see people hating on it, but in reality it's actually a great scifi series and most of the people hating are because they have read the 80+year old novels lol, obviously there will be changes!
It's acted brilliantly for the most part which is more than I can say or a lot of scifi in general unfortunately, production values incredible, story intricate and none-basic.

Give me some context. Why this guy is dressed with a skirt ? ?
He is the Emperor of the Galactic Empire, ruling over millions of worlds and quadrillions of people, tens of thousands of years in the future. Whatever he decides to wear is the correct thing to wear, and if you are confused about it you just prove that you are an uncultured savage from the ancient past.

Yeah, that’s how some series goes … some cast written out of a second or future seasons. For those actors hopefully, this is a big stepping stone in their career.

In this case, the source material didn’t have *any* continuing characters (although one was retconned in later) - even the first *book* was 4 stories set years apart, each with different characters. Even Seldon himself only appeared as a series of recorded messages. The show has added various plot devices like cloning, uploads and cryosleep to create ongoing characters without losing the timescale.

Not only that, but the *location* of the Second Foundation was a riddle that drove the plot of at least one book. It seems surprising that they threw that away so easily - but then Seldon could have been lying about it.

Ii got like 6 or 7 episodes into this show and I just couldn't get into it. I love fantasy/sci fi but this I found to be boring. Does it get better in the last few episodes?
