Is this based on the 1998 British film of the same name with Jane Horrocks and Michael Caine?
Was thinking this is a remake or rip off. The gritty British movie is great, Horrocks, Caine and Brenda Blethyn are superb in their roles. Don’t believe this will get near to portraying the flawed nature of people, or the shyness and development of confidence managed in this original inexpensively but well made flick from 98. Blethyn had Oscar nomination for her role.

Wow...a whole half hour of new content...this certainly makes it easier to decide whether to actually pay for ATV+ in NOV.

Update: I see the word "series", so a few half hour episodes...Hmmmm....

It certainly sounds like it... Obnoxious not to mention the original (which I thought was beautiful, btw, and leaned heavily on Horrocks' unusual talents), if indeed it is a redo.

JJ Abrams is a terrible director, who makes these nonsensical movies full of plot-holes and disjointed storytelling buried under excessive digital effects (and sprinkled with political correctness and identity politics), and he's everywhere these days. He's already ruined Star Trek and Star Wars, and still getting his grubby hands on new franchises - next up is the DC universe. FFS!

Weird. Apple has tons of $$$ but is going after producers like m night shamalon and jj abrams that have alienated viewers who now avoid their projects not out of anger due to disappointing prior movies but are fearful of wasting their time again(especially with long-form tv shows). Apple is seemingly actively trying to make me lose interest in Apple TV
Servant is incredible. It redeemed my view of Shyamalan. Don't judge a show before giving it a shot.

Servant and See are still the only 2 shows I had any interest in watching and they were both quite enjoyable
Mythic Quest is incredible too.

Truth Be Told, Defending Jacob and The Banker
I don't agree about Truth be Told. If you want a mystery series, Home Before Dark is ages better. I thought Truth be Told and Amazing Stories were the only Apple duds.

This is not the only show Apple has in the pipeline. It sounds like it's geared primarily to women - 10 episodes at 30 minutes each most likely.

For sure. The only good thing he ever did was Fringe.

Everything else is just set piece followed by set piece, with no plot, no character development, no drama, nothing.
