These were on TV when I was a kid, they weren't great then, and they've not gotten any better with age.
Was that 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, etc.... years ago?

Things are a dumpster fire these days. People have little respect for one another and society has actually alienated itself from real human interaction due to the proliferation of smartphones and social media.

The Peanuts was a cathartic artistic series of work by Charles Schulz which explored human relationships and life's ups and downs in a manor in which adults and children could relate and enjoy.

Maybe it's not the The Peanuts that isn't aging well.

Even though I have TV+ and can watch these whenever I miss them not being on ABC. I guess just because it’s something I grew up with.

And let's not forget Wide World of Sports, The Wonderful World of Disney, Battle of the Network Stars, Monday Night Football (before football was on every night on every network and Mutual of Omaha Animal Kingdom.

Sometimes less is more and entertainment is one of those things that people need less of these days.

Once there was just a hand full of networks with limited broadcasting hours now people are inundated with hundreds of channels and streaming services with hundreds of thousands of shows and videos consisting mainly of violence, s-x and crude humor.

And worse, bad writing.

This feels so behind the times, much like when Apple dropped U2 on everyone. My kids don't even know who Peanuts are.

Not even the same thing. The U2 album was *pushed* out to everyone. The Peanuts specials are available to watch on Apple devices without a subscription to TV+.

Classics never lose their shine. But some people never see the shine.

The problem is, people still need to create an Apple ID just to watch these, and I doubt many families without Apple products will want to bother, when they can just buy the Blu-ray set with all three specials and watch them whenever they want. That's what I did, despite me having a bunch of Apple products. And, ironically, I watch the Blu-rays on my M1 MacBook Air hooked up to my Apple Thunderbolt Display and an MthsTech USB-C Blu-ray burner; then I can even do this before starting up a special:

What's Blu-Ray?

That's exactly the point. The new "Apple Age" doesn't require physical media, and all of these dongles. But we applaud your nostalgia on aging tech.

Funny how there's all this nonsense about streaming rights and limited-time showings when it comes to at least one of those movies having clear anti-capitalist messages

I didn’t know they took it off broadcast TV. It was always fun to see these airing at primetime every year and I’m not even that old. That’s a shame.

Although to be fair, I really only use my broadcast TV received for live events like football games anymore. The programming on the networks doesn’t interest me much.

The Peanuts TV series had Christian colonialist messaging, particularly the Thanksgiving and Christmas episodes. People today are more inclined to point that out as a bad thing than people of the time when it was made…

Raging that it isn't available is silly. We've long since established that modern Apple has a price. The networks have just failed to offer enough.

Clearly those who wish to bring the United States down to third world status would agree with you.

Yes, there are two such options. With the Apple ID, they save money but will still get all those emails, unless they change the email settings.
The last time they aired on network television was 2019.
Indeed, I remember ABC's contract was set to expire in 2020, and I knew they weren't going to renew it, given their interest in "Peanuts" had been waning for much of the 2010s, especially after DHX/WildBrain got their share of the rights in 2017, along with ABC favoring Pixar's "Toy Story of Terror" over "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" (what with ABC being a Disney company) and often sticking the uncut Peanuts specials in "death" time slots. But I was hoping they'd at least move to FOX (which aired "Happiness Is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown") or possibly go back to CBS!
