Good riddance. Based on his design style, it's clear that he's much better suited for any dreck that Meta is working on. Now, let's hope that Apple will attempt to remove the stains that Dye left behind (ba-dum-bump), without losing too much face.

I'm starting to think Apple doesn't pay that great in terms of upper echelon tech companies. So many people leaving.

This is absolutely true and widely known—Apple's salaries aren't particularly competitive at any level, they attract talent because of their reputation.

And the ATP guys are doing cartwheels. I don’t think there’s anyone who disliked Dye more than Marco Arment.

Before people get too excited, remember, the design team reports to Tim directly now. So Tim is still the final one approving all the UI.
They will be reporting to Stephen Lemay, who has been doing this for 25 years, so not expecting a lot to change. But everyone ultimately reports to Tim and Tim ultimately reports to shareholders, so all that matters is that the iPhone 17 is beating sales records. So they are disincentivized to change anything substantial. What Apple needs is not another employee celebrating his 25th workiversary. They need new people with new ideas. But we also need more people to vote with their wallets, so we shall see.

I think he can be thanked for the option to turn Liquid Glass off. I keep my Mac looking as much like OpenStep as possible.

I missed that option in iOS 26.

Where is the zero transparency option? ..or the option to turn off the borders around icons and widgets?

I don't understand all you Liquid Glass whiners. its barely noticeable and when it is its a cool effect 🤷‍♂️ and Vision OS is awesome
Steve Jobs would be having a conniption fit if he were still alive today....its riddled with transparency that isn't appropriate...probably the best example of the problem with it is that as you scroll through your inbox text from the email is visible behind the word Inbox and # of messages at the top of that section and both become blurry - why you would ever think allowing text to overlay text is ok is beyond me...also whose bright idea was it to move the volume adjustment icon to the upper right of the screen, requiring you to take your eyes off what you are doing to see it and change the icon so its actually harder to see what volume level you set...I could go on and on.

Can you blame him? He probably wanted a promotion to chief design officer, but it didn't happen. Apple has lacked a Chief Design Officer since Jony Ive left. Ive left because he was bored. Dye probably left for a similar reason.

Nonetheless Liquid Glass is bad LOL.

Meta: “we’ve noticed you hate users”
Alan: “listening…”
Meta: “million bucks if you can get the rest of our users to leave the platform “
Alan: “Challenge accepted. You like flat, liquid, or both?”
Meta: “Adverts. Never let them speak to their friends, just adverts. “

Thank god. The mass exodus is real, but anyone who would actively want to work for Meta should not be at Apple.

Yall getting excited as this is going to change their vision on Liquid Glass😂 If we know Apple already, they ain’t going to backtrack so I don’t expect much.
