i already said sept 12 theres an apple event no one believes because people say mac and ios dont mix. I want to remind people apple doesnt do every event the same while itd seem strange to mix imac with ios, apple can do and it can name the event how ever they want. They dont base their event and whats release on those event on of past history, i personally think we would see an 2012 imac either on that event or that day. I dont care if anyone believes me. however i will come back to my thread and rub it in everyones faces  if it doesnt come out everyone can do the same to me. lol

Well, you see.. The events where apple talks about mac and ios is either macworld or wwdc, other smaller event in apple campus was always with a specific theme.. Either music event (itunes, ipod), ipad announcement, education in early jan, back to the mac, etc.

Apple has always been consistent with their event. The only anomaly was last year on iphone 4s announcement, theres icloud, ios 5 but no new ipod touch.
And i'd like to believe the rumors where they have production problem with thinner & bigger screen for iphone 5, and sept was the deadline, they can't produce thinner bigger iphone 5 instead they go with plan b which is the 4s.

Now if you look at it, september is always an ipod, itunes event and october is where the mac comes.
Oct 2008 : redesign mbp unibody
Oct 2009 : redesign imac
Oct 2010 : back to the mac
Oct 2011 : silent mbp update

So what i'm saying is, I will accept your challenge. Lol.
If the 2012 imac launch in sept, please do rub it in my face if not... Well you know :D

Ok then we'll just have to Wait and see. Btw I never said that I didn't believe to be October it's just I don't think it's not gonna come out on sep 12 based on previous apple events or releases thats my pet peeve. I'm not 100% sure to be sep 12 but a lot of things seem to be pointing out to that.

A lot of people keep saying "the salesmen don't know anything about it". I'm just curious are you all Apple employees yourselves?

A little disappointing that the OP hasn't actually come back to confirm exactly what the salesperson said. We all know that the salespeople have very little advance knowledge of new products, but it would have still been interesting to find out what she thought she knew.

this happened before on this forum, where people were advised not to purchase yet by the Apple folks, so this is believable.

Configured iMac delivery time jumped from Aug. 9 to Aug. 14 since yesterday.

still showing 1-3 days for me. can get it to 4-6 if I change the HDD to SSD and add any software though. When the dates for the base model slip, then I'll get excited.

I get 1-4 days when building. its a couple days more than usual. But, delivery time is more than 2 weeks....dunnt if this means anything though. Hoping of course, it would be nice if new imacs came out before the iphone events and all, instead of after.

This place should be rebranded MacDreams&BS.

Everyone just jumps on any tiny morsel of 'information' like vultures because you're so desperate for it to be true. So much self-convincing using no logic or rationale beyond pure desperation and wishful thinking.

'Some guy I know told me some guy told him that they're designing new macs'

'=O OMGz That must mean they're gonna bring out the new hyperretina 55" iMac with octocore processor that will suck me off in the mornings TOMORROW. I mean, why wouldn't they release it tomorrow? They're definitely going to release it tomorrow, right?'

Chill people. Apple have a plan. No amount of speculation or wishful thinking is going to make it come any sooner.

Just phoned Apple UK sales to order a new iMac, explained to the lady I was upgrading my 2009 base model and wanted something better able to cope with video editing. To cut a long conversation short she persuaded me to wait for 6 weeks.

Better advice would have been to wait six months.

Delivery time shows when you add it to the cart and enter a zip code.

I don't think we'll see an iMac update at an event, I think it will just pop up on their store. If we get an all new iMac then we'd more likely to have an event of some kind.

my guess is that there's definitely some kind of redesign, if there wasn't they would have just made a silent refresh long ago (not hard to put Ivy Bridge chip in the current design)

Maybe the OP of this thread just threw this out for s:hits and giggles. Mentioning anything that could hint of an iMac here is like throwing gasoline on fire... We are all so starved for the iMac that we go nuts over the smallest things, guess its fun for observers.

Now that would have been worth it for a laugh but no I didnt think of that as I too am one of those desperate for a new iMac people. Also to the other person that asked I called the 0800 048 0408 sales number where I spoke to Debbie, it wasnt an apple reseller.

She said that if my existing mac was still working and I could wait I should. I was told to give it 6 weeks then call back.

To quote from the film, Sum of all Fears, "This is all too much Goddamned BS and not enough fact!"

My conclusions from everything I've read over the past several months:

1. No rumours can be relied on until Apple say something official.

2. They will not say any official until they are launching.

3. If you want to play high end games on your iMac, then wait. If not, then buy when the price drops.
