that might might not be the case over here though.
who knows what they will do, but then if you can buy them in the apple stores then it should work the same way unless they have o2 stalls to set up the contracts.

Apple were advertising for 'Activations Manager' on their job site - I think that pretty much guarantees that it'll be the same as in the US - a bit of DIY on our part.

so let's say someone's credit isn't up to o2's standard. will they then offer a prepay account as is at&t's policy?

Maybe they need that time to set up the displays... hmmm!

When they started selling the iPhone in the US, every apple store and ATT store closed for two hours between 4 and 6pm to prepare for the event. Apple stores stayed opened until midnight that day.

OMGS I can't believe you are spell checking my spell check!

Realise, realize. Stupid american spell checker in firefox!

And about NBC, that's basically what i was saying. Apple said 1.99 or not sell. So NBC said no. Apple have more say in prices over in america for various reasons. Maybe it was harder for them to negotiate in the UK because the ITMS store isn't as big a success.

Lol, sorry. Couldn't resist! NBC claimed they wanted to offer entire series' at a discount compared to individual episodes and Apple wouldn't let them (or so they claim). As far as I'm aware a full series is just the cost of all the individual episodes, which isn't ideal.

Until iTunes TV Shows are cheaper than buying DVD box sets (which are better than what you get on the ITMS) I can't see it taking off in a big way. No packaging, can't watch on TV, can't lend, lower quality, no extras and more expensive. I can't find a single reason to buy from iTunes rather than buy the DVDs. I'm sure most are the same.

1. No packaging = a good thing for me.
2. Apple TV

What I want for the iTS to be perfect for me is higher quality recordings and the ability to rent movies. This with an Apple TV = game over for DVDs for me.

Deal or no deal?

if on tuesday the iPhone is coming out in the same way it is in the US i will think about buying... i don't want to get screwed for not have waited maybe another month and get the 3G and 16GB iPhone.

- iPhone 8Gb, EDGE... maybe not:rolleyes:
- iPhone 16gb, 3G... i'm camping in Regent Street:D

That's what makes me hope we'll be able to actually buy the phones the same day. Would be nice!

It's a shame the other stores don't list as being closed on the site as well, that would be even more of a clue.

thing is though the release date was known well in advance in the US, but am I right in saying the price plans were not released until the week the phone was out?

so it might be o2 is getting the phone, the release date is and price plans announced asap?

and if the phones have arrived in the uk someone somewhere will spot them, saying that I don't think your going to see 100 trucks with iphone painted on them!

O2 stores open as normal... apparently

I just called the closest O2 store to the Apple store in Regent Street (W1B 2EL) and they said that on Tuesday they have no special event scheduled and the hours of operations are going to be normal...

Has anyone read this. Looks like no 3G and even worse a 3G version might be shipping early next year

Given how poor 3G coverage really is outside of cities, EDGE (now that O2 have upgraded their gprs network to it) seems like a better choice in some respects. I mean in most cities I could find a wifi spot yes?

(see O2 website for the 3G coverage. The label it as video and it's dark blue).

then i would definitely wait for it!! as a matter of fact i don't even know if i can replace the free N73 that O2 gave me when i started the contract a month ago to start with... so maybe the later the better for me...

if someone knows more about how to switch phone when under contract with a carrier like this case, please let me know

dark blue = 3G
light blue= EDGE

I would have thought that you just buy the iPhone and switch your contract with o2 to one that suits (talk time and data wise).

They can't force you to use the Nokia that came with your original contract. The N73 is yours to do with as you like.

Can it all be done from within iTunes, is that how it worked with AT&T?

whether the phones will appear in stores before Christmas or be launched in the New Year. The latter looks a lot more likely at this stage...

why hold a press event in September and not release the phone till after the new year?
no way, December at the latest but I'd say before, there's too much money to be made.
