They're saving it for the iPhone 5S next year. They don't put all their eggs in one basket and the iPhone 5 has enough as is to drive sales.

Unlikely. Noise supression isn't a feature, it's required to make the voice recognition functional. Apple isn't saving it for the next release, they've most likely found a replacement technology.

Get over it.

Who cares about dock connector? iOS6 - we get that anyway....
give us a *proper* bigger screen for a start.

I couldn't care less about a bigger screen. These phones with huge 4.5" screens are ridiculous.

If I wanted a bigger screen, I'd buy a tablet. But, that is just my opinion I suppose.

Not if they're not going to expand on Siri's capability and maybe away from beta until next year's release. The 4S already has some kind of noise suppression.

They never put all their eggs in one basket, so just a case redesign, LTE and maybe one other feature are already good enough to get people to buy the iPhone 5. If that's not good enough for you, wait for the iPhone 5S next year. It'll likely be the same design but feature-loaded similar to the iPhone 3GS.

New design, LTE speed and possibly one more feature, just like the iPhone 3G's new design, 3G speed and A-GPS.

Go ahead and lose it while everyone else gets in line. And they'll get in line again next year for more features in the iPhone 5S.

iSheep and brand whores are killing Apple's innovation. No real motivation. If only nokia had bothered to push the envelope with at least a 20 MP+ Camera. That would have awakened the masses.

Iphone 4 was the last "significant" upgrade. Probably the last one now that jobs is gone :(

So

Why would iPhone 4 owners want an iPhone5

Nothing really new at all here unless Sept 12 proves otherwise.

Pretty bad when my brothers Samsung can get 4G and Im STILL waiting??

I love Apple but come on already the iPhone4S was the lamest update to the iPhone yet.
The iPhone5 has to be... magical, for me to buy :)

The iphone5 will have LTE. That's why ip4 owners will want to upgrade. Plus, real time voice navigation, bigger screen, thinner.

The real question besides LTE is why would an iphone 4s owner want to upgrade?

WTF??? Are you serious? Do you know how much a 20mp camera phone would cost? Do you know how thick that thing would be? No one would buy it. No one.

^Not to mention megapixel count is no longer a worry unless you're trying to blow the pictures up to poster size. It's more about the light sensor in the iPhone camera once you reach a certain MP count and 20MP is a ridiculous amount that most people wouldn't use. Also, of the people who do need to blow it up, using a DSLR would be better anyways.

iSheep. How original. Something tells me to follow your every word. Clearly you have such insightful things to say.

back OT

If Audience didn't make the cut some technology did whether it's homegrown or from another company. Audience isn't the first and last company to lose a big contract. It's a dog eat dog world.

wow! just the announcement made the stock drop that bad,
ppl should stop carrying crazy rumours!!
and why front page

I'm not sure this is front page material..

wheres your rumors website?

----------

Apple have said they're not including NFC payments with the iPhone 5

really, apple has said that? news to me. it may not, but i dont think theyve gone on the record about any features at all.

----------

I see a trend where Apple has no significant competition out there to drive it to do anything more than the most incrimental of changes.

I hope I'm wrong. I hope there is something special about this new iPhone beyond it being "this new iPhone."

no competition? are you high? apple cell phone business is surrounded by competition!

as for apple -- you dont understand their model. incremental improvements is exactly what they do for established product lines. evolution, not revolution. the new iphone will be the best iphone theyve ever made, as will the next and the next after that.

as for new features -- its a mobile phone. you can only do so much. what more do you want?? oh, a case redesign. sorry but they dont do change for change's sake. deal with it.

you dont know anything about camera tech, do you? 20MP on small cellphone sensor would introduce a lot of noise. more MPs != better.

...
If Apple included a built-in comb on the next iPhone, would that make all Android devices "out of date?" ;)

No, but Samsung would have an eerily similar comb in it's next phone, purely coincidentally, of course.

Do people really believe Apple is removing all noise reduction because they aren't going with Audience?

This points to a new A5X or A6 chip. Apple probably found a better technology and licensed it instead.

Remember when Apple dropped Synaptics as the supplier for the iPod click wheel? It didn't mean they stopped putting click wheels on iPods.

That is a point, however It would be nice to only have to carry one device around with a screen a bit bigger.

Maybe the real solution is that apple offer 2 phone models. That would probably satisfy most people.

Down 40%? Ouch.

lol, that's so bad.

I'd personally like to see what would happen to Samsung's stock price if the equivalent statement was given by their CEO, to the effect of 'It appears unlikely that Apple will use any our components in their future products'.

That sarcastic response isn't really warranted; his was quite reasonable given the superfluous and vacuous nature of the statement he was answering.

LOL, I hope the add something really worthy, so far looks like the same phone to me. The iphone is behind all existing Android phone on decent screen size, LTE, NFC, micro SD, etc.
Getting a phone that is outdated is just dump. We can call the iphone as the smartphone for dummies.

You should still be in kindergarten; I mean that in the kindest possible way.

68% drop.

Most likely apple's stock will take a huge dive as apple will be scrambling to find suppliers in a short timeframe. There will be massive shortages of components for all lines, as well as the problem that Samsung components are higher quality than other suppliers.

In short apple will be punished more than Samsung if this happened.

Wrong by a mile.

Apple sources from multiple vendors. Their displays come from LG, Samsung and Sharp.

Apple uses Samsung for NAND storage, DRAM memory, Displays and fabrication of their SoC. All stuff that can be supplied by other vendors. In fact Apple was trying to lock up TSMC for an exclusive foundry deal.

Samsung isn't reliant on Apple either so their stock would not likely dip upon the news that Apple is no longer a key vendor.

Well, assuming Apple is run by intelligent people, they'd presumably have new suppliers lined-up and ready to start manufacturing. It's not as though I was suggesting the scenario of Apple just suddenly, without consideration, going 'let's drop Samsung for ALL the products; what do we do now? Oh well, no-one to manufacture for us. Let's start looking :p'.

Nokia 808. Look it up and then talk. That is REAL innovation. Too bad it came with crappy symbian.

Clearly you all haven't heard of the Nokia 808. Unsubsidized price at release, which was in the early summer is in line with the flagship phones.

41 MEGAPIXELS. Takes a DUMP on any phone camera in the market right now... and its not that much thicker.

No one would buy it? I think a very big chunk of the market would be interested in a camera P/S quality phone. And no, the iphone camera is not even close to a P/S quality, no matter how much we think its "revolutionary".

Its too bad Nokia decided to release a junk 8 MP camera with the pureview name.

Just watch these videos and tell me no one would buy it if it came with Windows or Android.

Yeah right. Let me know when apple comes close to making anything near this.

Nope, not wrong. I already know about the other vendors, and if Apple were to cut Samsung off right now, Apple will be the one in deep trouble, because there's no way the other component vendors will be able to ramp up production to satisfy the quantities Apple demands right now.

In fact if Apple was to cut Samsung off right now I predict there would still be issues with supply in a year.
