So I did well to buy the Air M1 Cellular for 600 euros six months ago… This start from 579, cellular version (in Italy), what is the point to buy it?
You "might" get an extra 2 years of updates. But thats really about it

I also bought an Air 5th Gen (non cellular) about 6 months back for around $500 with 256gb storage - for any regular iPad tasks even the M1 is overkill.

The criticism is a bit funny. This is oriented towards content consumption. I use my iPads for that. So I got one, as a way of staying up to date in software without killing my existing Air 5 and to replace my now significantly incompatible 9.7-inch iPad Pro. iOS 12 is now too much trouble for me after using it since Apple forcibly updated it from iOS 9 back in 2019.

I use my iPads for web browsing, a little light gaming, and content watching on stuff like Netflix. I want battery life, and compatibility. This is perfect.

Are you somebody running external displays or FCP? Not for you.

I now have the latest iOS version without killing my Air 5 and with a significantly (though yet to be determined) better battery life. I don’t need to spend three times as much to buy a 7th-gen iPad Pro as a second iPad for… web browsing, a little gaming, and TV shows and sports. This is okay for that.
