There are 5 models. iPad (budget, A10), iPad mini/Air (consumer, A12), iPad Pro 11/12.9 (prosumer, A12x)

That’s pretty simple.

5 sizes (iPad) vs 3 sizes (iPhone, MacBook, and iMac) is less simple.

Criticism isn't hate. Jews were hated during the Holocaust. Blacks endured hatred during the civik rights era. You don't know what true hatred is.

I really think a bit of context is needed here...

I was making the point that the knee jerk reaction on this site seems all to often to be slagging off Apple regardless of what they do. Joyless criticism of the new iPad because strangely enough it doesn’t have the same hardware spec as a top of the range iPad Pro. You know, that sort of thing.

So I may not know what true hatred is but I sure recognise true pedantry and tedious forum one-upmanship when I see it.

Even without a laminated display, I’m still tempted to get one of these to replace my iPad Air 2 if it starts to hit the lower prices on sale like the previous one did. At $299 I think this iPad would be great.

What's the difference between this A10 Fusion chip and the A10 Fusion chip that's in my 6th gen iPad?

Apple is focusing so much on software that hardware is falling behind. Samsung tablets has OLED at their $399 price range tablets. Not even the Apple pro models have OLED.

I know cannibalizing your own product line is just a regular old Tuesday for Apple but this is crazy.
RIP iPad Air

On the fence. I don't own an iPad and I never thought I'd consider buying one but this price tag + iPadOS ... I need to see this in reviews on Youtube first.

Eh, iPads are consumption devices in my house. Youtube, Netflix, and Prime really don't need iPad pro features. They will still be good consumption devices many years from now.

I don't disagree, but the ProMotion, laminated display and 4 speakers work great with that consumption. Well worth $70 in my opinion. And my kids are using it as their main computing device for school. Keyboard, pencil, imessage and LTE along with school provided office 365 gives a 1.5# mobile do all device.

Damn. That's a great deal. $400 for a wifi/LTE model. I'd jump on that in a heartbeat today.

Isn’t Apple going straight to mLED for their large-format displays?

So this is actually better than the 2018 iPad? Why do you call it low-cost?
