it's the friking dutch national color what's so amazing about the a national colour in its country of origin?

Seriously. OK, sure it's a nice touch for Apple to recognize the Dutch in this way, but "amazing" or "astonishing" really?

Gr8!!

I have put the 18th in my agenda to go to Amsterdam... but it looks like it might have to wait another week orso.

Be nice to do see the hot stuff behind the windows in Amsterdam... :D

"Orange is the national color of the Netherlands..."

That may say something about the liberal drug laws there.

Nice combo (orange and 3 apples), i wonder if this will be the new apple trend... using the national colors or patterns of some sort when opening a new store.

Isn't this the same building where Apple Netherlands HQ is located? Pretty sure its right off of Leidseplein in Amsterdam. I think they moved their office here last year or so...

Just a question about your signature, did you mean to say "you ain't ever gonna go back?" Because the way it reads now is that you are NOT never going to go back, which actually means that you are going to go back.

This is exactly the type of comment Louis CK had in mind when he said "When I was growing up calling someone a fa33ot didn't mean they were gay, it just meant the said things that were . . . you know . . . faggy"

It will also sport a nice piramid..

Amsterdam store

I will go there to get the me a new iTV, Mac mini and :apple:TV 46-50 inch (if available around the time.)
And then get rid of my Sony Trintron 28 inch :p
It has been around 16 year to service my family. And still running.

If there is not an :apple:TV available, what should I get?
LED or wait for OLED?
Samsung the copycat, which I hate to do. (but they do have great line up)
Panasonic for there great products and service I have come familiar with.
And they have an SD slot in the front which is great for simple and fast access off sharing photo's of my own and friends there camera's.
Love to keep things simple:D

So they hire the guy who runs DSG to run Apple retail and this appears. "not bringing Currys to Apple" they said. This is the kind of tacky crap PC world would do. Oh Dear!

Were these shop coverings sponsored by EasyJet?

It looks horrific. That's not how Apple do things.

White coverings with one greyish Apple logo on each panel.

Bright Orange and 3 Apple logo's? ********* hell that looks ridiculous.

Imagine their website looking like that.

Not a big fan of football then?

That is a really beautiful building. Such presence. Apple knows how to scout great locations, particularly in foreign countries.

Apple knows how and has beacoup $$$. I can't imagine the cost at such a prime location in Leidseplein!

Wow. You just published a front page article about "striking new window coverings."

For some reason, macrumors seems to think the opening of Apple Stores is somehow not only news, but front page news. And it is not just opening of stores. The remodling of store is also considered news.

3 Apple logos

The three Apple logos look a bit strange... it's doesn't match Apple's strict design rules. On the other hand... Apple is also known for using visual clues in invitations and announcements. For example: the invitation for the iBook event in NY. These window covers in Amsterdam are a bit the same... the three Apple logos are a reference to the city logo of Amsterdam. That logo has three crosses... and these crosses are really everywhere in the city. For example on thousands of little poles - called Amsterdammertjes - that prevent cars from parking on the pavement. See the picture... (and I am waiting for X-rated remarks...!)

What is that supposed to mean? I think the Netherlands is handling it really well. Instead of criminalizing it, they are controlling it and instead of criminals earning money, people can actually buy good cannabis - for example - while they also pay taxes over it. And best of all, people are reasonably well-educated about drugs and, if someone gets addicted to drugs, there is tons of (free) help to help people.

Cannabis usage in the Netherlands is really low. Less than 10% of the inhabitants use cannabis once a month. Compare it to, for example, France where cannabis is illegal and 100% forbidden, but more than 20% of the inhabitants use cannabis once a month.

I think the Netherlands is dealing really well with these kinds of issues.

It is very odd for Apple to put 3 logos in the same place. This surprises me greatly.

I agree. This is VERY UN APPLE.

Steve would've said NO. One Apple is right, multiple apples is tacky, ugly, and unnecessary.

Inferring that it represents the coat of arms begs the question- WHY? Is Apple now imitating flags of countries? Is Apple not great enough on its own?

Like all of Apple's design philosophy - Less is More.

But, whatever.
