I look at this touch bar and think of this ...

Those prices!

On a side note, RIP MacBook Air. May your touchbar-less replacement fill your shoes as well.
really - Tim is going crazy - Apple might be saying these guys are so desperate for a new machine - they will accept any price increase.

I think it's worse. It requires you to take your eyes off the screen on to the keyboard. I hate taking my eyes off the screen.
Exactly what I thought. In terms of input speed this seems like a step backwards to me.

While the functions covered by the TouchBar might be very convinient, actually using them forces you to take your eyes of the screen and check the context-sensitive layout in order to hit the desired 'button'.

Holy crap. These prices. I'm now priced out of the market. First I was priced out of the iMac, now this.

Did I imagine it or is the lowest price model missing the touch bar?
Seriously?!?

Also. RIP MacBook air. The greatest laptop I have ever owned ( and I'm now on a surface book)

I like the concept. Hope they provide a new magic keyboard too so I can be consistent on my Mac Pro too.

I think they thought about this. The Touch Bar is part of the keyboard, at the top, an extension of the screen. Hands do not need to leave the keyboard area, and hands stay put.

Swiping on the new touch bar? Didn't Apple make fun of touch screen windows users as having gorilla arms?

Touch Bar vs. touching a screen, obstructing the view. Different things entirely. Touch Bar provides touch without obstruction.

I think it's pretty cool. Might consider purchasing the mid 13" after getting to try on in a store. A great way to use touch without getting grease and prints on my screen. Seems like a great way to add a touch component to the MacBook Pro

Wow! That was completely underwhelming. And the prices are just incredible. I don't think I can justify this kind of expense for a laptop. They've completely price themselves out of the range of 99% of the population. Computers for the 1%. Just like the iPad pros, way too expensive. I guess I'm gonna have to learn to live with windows 10. Apple has completely done away with their entry and mid level computers and gone super ultra high premium. For the first time in 35 years I will have to be a Windows user. Too bad. I'm a little sad to say goodbye community. It's been nice being one of you.

You know for the price of these machines without dedicated video cards you could buy an amazing Alienware or gaming laptop that could easily double as an artistic tool for editing plus double as an amazing gaming PC which they are.

While the Touch Bar has potential. And I can see the usefulness on multi-touch applications. it seems they are just using it to hide palettes and small overlays. All the while making the mouse/touchpad a non-use and so I have to focus my attention away from the screen. Perhaps on a laptop-only setup, it makes some sense but as a laptop used on a desktop...nah.

and I guess we need a lot more dongles...or maybe a $80-120 Docking station with all the ports removed so I can charge things, use a keyboard, etc. I wouldn't mind if they had Wireless keyboards WITH the NumberPad.

Was anyone else surprised to see a headphone jack on the MacBooks? Just a month ago they trashed headphone jacks calling them outdated tech and low and behold, a headphone jack on their newest product. Apple marketing people are dumb as they come.

What happened to their "courage"?

So maybe some people should hold on until next year when Apple releases their Kaby Lake "we went a little crazy last year with our prices and are releasing these models at more realistic prices" update.

Don't think I've been more underwhelmed by an Apple event before. Interactions with touch bar will be slow and unintuitive and require constant interruption to look down and squint at the tiny icons.

The whole time I couldn't help but think, "hey can't I already do that with the giant multi touch trackpad or keyboard shortcuts?" Or even "Hey doesn't the MS Surface line let users do that directly on the screen?"

RIP MacBook Air, RIP USB ports, RIP iconic glowing Apple logo on MacBook lids.

Apple is showing plenty of "courage" after removing MagSafe, SD reader, USB-A compatibility and charging those prices. Why no touch bar for the "cheapest" MBP?

That touch bar is a gimmick and those prices are insane and they didn't even mention the iMac, Mac mini or Mac Pro.

Wow that touch bar is so much worse than the surface dial and actually helps you. This touch bar is a step backwards while the surface dial is a good step forward.

I wasn't expecting to much from Apple but this was just awful and way lower than what I expected.

A lot of fluff before getting to the overprice main course
