kudos. I wish more of us think like you do. Unfortunately the allure of new tech overcomes a lot of other impulses for me. But I wish I was not this way.I’d love to buy new AirPods but I can’t I’m good conscience buy new ones considering my current (1st gen) AirPods would simply end up in landfill. I wish Apple did a better job at recycling / replacing AirPods.

Just got some last week and I’m really disappointed. BT is quite flaky compare to my airpod 2s. I prefer the fit of the 2s, but the pros sound better and people understand me better. Sigh.Perhaps they fixed the automatic switching between the Mac and iPhone bug? It was promised 2 year ago and nowadays it doesn't work automatically. It only shows a notification asking me to change manually.

Woman… ? sighiPhone BT car audio connections are pretty awesome. It takes a few seconds for the changeover, but the sound is a lot better, and people that I am talking to say my voice sounds better too. All I know is the wife hated talking while driving before she got a radio capable of BT. Now, she'll talk the whole voyage home if I let her.
Edit: (No, I am not kidding!?And when she gets home, I get it: 'So, you don't want to talk to your wife?' ? Yes dear, of course I do. 'I should find someone who will want to hear my voice!' Oh gawd, no. I have to save someone else from this, somehow.(She still yells at me when I call her in my car, using the Bluetooth system. *shrug*))
Or maybe their stuff is so damn simple such regular update is not necessary? Many of you complain about not knowing what's updated, and that you cannot force it. Remember that very few manufacturers update their stuff at all!
I am very curious though about the famous "first firmware version", it would be nice to try how it was...

Fact is that it performed too well and now it’s middle of the pack. Just go read the reviews at launch and you’ll see that it had fantastic ANC with the original FW. It was a pleasure walking out of the Apple Store when I got them as it muffled the world as I strolled around NYC. I was shocked at how well it performed on the subway, they were even better than my then class-leading Sony WF-1000XM3 with Comply tips.
I’m still not sure why they would neuter one of their better products like this.
And no, I’ll never get over this. lol.
Mine have been doing that as well. Very annoying to say the least. I've not dropped mine, so it's not that.My AirPods Pro have been behaving like by bad boys over the last two weeks. Sometimes it just works on one ear. Sometimes it does not automatically work when I put them in my ears. I'm eager to see if it's a firmware issue or whether I've dropped them too many times.
ANC hasn't even been close to the original version that came with it when they were released. They eased off on the ANC I think because it was causing fullness for some people. But it was bloody brilliant. Outrageously good for in ear headphones. And now it's just average and nothing special.update made my ANC even worse. I can still hear them calling my name at work
Woman… ? sigh
Wish you have a great life.
I have a. Nissan Maxima. It has a Bose sound system. I have no idea who manufactures the BT chip in the head unit.I also have this issue. I’d be curious to what kind of car this happens to you? This happens to me with Ford Sync in my Taurus SHO. It’s annoying, but it’s intermittent.
I’ve had my APPs since day one and the ANC has definitely gotten worse over the years/updates. I even got them swapped out through AC and the new ones were just as bad.If you heard the original firmware's ANC, you'd understand that the hardware is capable. It's just infuriating that they artificially hampered it.
Well, for one I can tell one wrong with APP’s previous 4A400 firmware: it won’t keep connected for more than 2 minutes. For me and a lot more folks across the web. The earbud simply disappear from Find My and comes back as “not your AirPods Pro”. Called Apple, they set a store appointment, got both buds replaced. Worked like a champ - with firmware 3Fsomething. Updated to 4A400, back to the same problem. Thanks I was thinking there was nothing wrong with AirPods Pro's previous firmware.
I had never used NC headphones before, and the APP at launch were pretty incredible at it. Now, however, after firmware downgrades, it's nowhere near as effective. If you heard the original firmware's ANC, you'd understand that the hardware is capable. It's just infuriating that they artificially hampered it.

Knowing what's in the update isn't really all that helpful. It's not like an iPhone.
