Is it possible to put in an MKV Bluray and uses Compressor to make the file smaller? Here's the defaults, does that help?

You can find satisfied users of all different brands of editing software.
It's been 297 days since the last update.
And now this? WTF. Minor minor update?
Does Apple still has staff developing FCPX?
Disappointed. Very. I am a pro editor and am using FCPX since 3 years. Defending FCPX in the pro landscape where I can.
Pffff. I hope they are preparing a huge 10.3 update. There are so many things which could be improved.
It appears Apple is going through that phase of "should I pull the plug and say goodbye to the world?"Here was me hoping that they would finally make Compressor 64bit but alas here I go back to iFFmpeg with a 64bit ffmpeg binary that produces h264 videos faster, cleaner and smaller than Compressor. Have Apple more or less just given up on life or something?
Of course.

Obviously this isn't true. Who the heck uses Premiere and loves it? Um. No one.

True, for me it appears that if there was a graph to represent product quality then Apple's line would be descending and Microsoft's line would be ascending but the question is whether we've reached the point where two lines intersect as Apple seems to be whipping themselves into a frenzy over iOS at the detriment of OS X (this forum being a depressing example of just how many iOS device owners who have never owned a Mac) whilst on the other hand Microsoft realises that you've got to take care of all your customers by having a common core that is shared between the XBox, traditional computing as well as emerging technologies - Windows 8 gave Microsoft a giant boot up the backside which resulted in Windows 10. The movement to Windows 10 has resulted in regular incremental improvements (aka rolling release) not to mention Redstone later this year and Project Centennial (win32 apps bundled as appx packages and distributed through the Store) that we'll see the decline of OS X as the iOS fanboys jerk each other off inside and outside of Apple over the 'future of computing' - when that day arrives it'll be a sad day indeed.
I have to admit that MS is doing better in taking care of people; HOWEVER, since the release of window 10 with behind the scene spying capability...I can't give full credit to them. Tim failed to take care of computer people...and that's a problem.True, for me it appears that if there was a graph to represent product quality then Apple's line would be descending and Microsoft's line would be ascending but the question is whether we've reached the point where two lines intersect as Apple seems to be whipping themselves into a frenzy over iOS at the detriment of OS X (this forum being a depressing example of just how many iOS device owners who have never owned a Mac) whilst on the other hand Microsoft realises that you've got to take care of all your customers by having a common core that is shared between the XBox, traditional computing as well as emerging technologies - Windows 8 gave Microsoft a giant boot up the backside which resulted in Windows 10. I think you hit it right on. Unfortunately, this MAY be the case...
Maybe this will be the rise of the open-source community and the era of "Linux" and it's brothers. What choices do we have if we are not satisfied with the way the trend is going for any operating systems?
Do not like Windows 10 and its prime (Google) directive Borg mentality. OS X may be low on Apple's now "money focus" todeum pole. Now directives: iwatch, iphone and toy cars: meaning super hero spy-ring cartoon-jetsons agendas, including virtual reality glasses...? cartoon agendas...no more productivity improvements..
I thought technology was to improve humanity, not regress to child-like behaviors...

Nice use of explicitly sexual imagery to make a point. Remind me not to let my daughters ever read macrumors.
Speaking of women, are there such thing as fangirls? fangurls? and do they jerk each other off? I got to stop now.
Most disappointing update ever... waiting for MONTHS for an update for Metal support and they come with this? What happened?

i am always amazed when people make negatIve comments about updates, for it clearly can be seen that the company is still working on improvements to their software. Plus, if you write code, EL Capitan has its challenges with the new graphics platform.
I remember the days when updates to software ONLY came during a yearly upgrade, regardless of how many bugs were in the program when it was first released...and were usually a PAID upgrade if you wanted improvements. At least they are trying to fix the bugs and shows that they are working on the software.
I for one welcome the update and hope it fixes some of the issues I have had with a major project that I have been working on for the last two weeks. Risky yes, when applying an update in the middle of a major project....but I ALWAYS save the last working version of the app if the update is a lemon to go back to since you cannot download an older version (learned the hard way one time with another project). Also, a rule to do is backup the project before applying the update.
As far as Avid's Premiere, great product...but....AVID has gone to a subscription based plateform, so no thanks Avid. Will stay with FCPX, Logic Pro X and Sibelius 7.5. All of those complainers about FCPX, a one time $299 price tag cannot be beat, especially now that FCPX generally is a good product and works mostly.
I welcome any improvements.
For clarity, Avid makes (among other software) Media Composer, which is available by subscription as well as a perpetual license. Adobe Premiere is only available through a subscription model (had a horrible experience with this, all I will say).As far as Avid's Premiere, great product...but....AVID has gone to a subscription based plateform, so no thanks Avid. Thing is even adobe with this practice (you didn't mention by name...but they are masters at this lol) those 1 year paid updates had some umphhh to them usually. And even adobe did bug fixes pretty decent for about 6 months into that new product year. Its just after month 6 you know you were screwed. But we got those 6 months where we'd see at least 2-3 updates. It was something. The sub structure I will admit I hate.
Are you talking about the blocky mosaic effect?? - if so do you use an NVIDIA card by any chance?

I work on a TV drama hopefully going into Season 10 and we switched last season from FCP 7 (a workflow we had completely dialed in) to Avid Media Composer, software loved by editors who have only ever seriously used Media Composer. FCP X is great for single-user environments and I have really enjoyed using it on a music video, a couple shorts and some corporate video. I do have some concerns about how it works in shared environments as I have not experienced a practical workflow.
I was at the NAB unveiling of FCP X and, like many, was very disappointed. Since then there have been several good upgrades that truly gave me hope; I really enjoyed cutting in it. Now, however, I am concerned about the rate of development. Check out Richard Taylor's wish list for FCP X; he is bang on for what the software needs but unfortunately probably wildly optimistic for what it will get. I hope I am very wrong.
