Were's the love for dyslexic people?

I sent them a feature request some time ago and requested some of these features however they didn't use any of the fonts from my recommendation.

I'd REALLY like to see some new fonts and background colors for dyslexic people. If they'd do this I'd truly be in paradise. You can't understand how hard it is for me to read using most fonts and background colors.

Can someone post screen shots, esp. fullscreen and night mode. thanks! :)

I can read all my Kindle books on any iOS device, Mac, PC, Android or Kindle. Unless there's some killer feature that iBooks have over Kindle books color me not interested.

Interesting changes. I will be downloading shortly :).

iBooks is one of the first things that really blew me away when I picked up an iPad for the first time.

It's funny. The only thing that blew me away was the utter lack of a night mode. About time. Maybe I'll find a use for iBooks, now.

1) create an iBook reader for Mac. - I currenrly have 200+ Kindle books, and would much have preferred to get them in iBook format. But I want something I can read cross-platform on my iPhone/iPad as well as Mac.

overall, few folks are likely to wait to sit at their computer reading, especially for longer books

2) matte screens for iMac and Cinema Displays, and 13" MBP and MBA. C'mon, see the reasons given at the petition site http://macmatte.wordpress.com

growing sales of computers without said option are probably going to speak a lot louder than an easy to pad petition.

I agree, but Steve may be the wrong person to take your frustration out on. We've read now how much power he gave Jonny Ive and team. Maybe Jonny is the man we need to talk to.

(BTW, the MacBook Air isn't nearly as bad as the MacBook Pro, iMac and Cinema Displays, because it doesn't have the arbitrary sheet of glass in front of it.)

Well hey, I paid extra for matte on my MBP. I'm doing my bit!

I don't see any full screen option on iPhone. Is that just for iPad?

I'm mystified. I've been asking for this feature ever since iBooks debuted. Lots of people have been. We posted on forums. I sent a comment to Apple. Eventually just started using the Kindle App and Stanza because of the night reading mode.

I'm glad Apple's done this. But, out of curiosity, I wonder why did it took so long.

List of new refinements:

1. Books without a cover art now appear in a new and beautiful leather bound cover with the title engraved in white and the author's name matching the color of the leather, which varies in color.

2. New fonts including: Athelas, Charter and Seravek.

3. Background colors are now called themes and are transitioned through graceful dissolves. Sepia is followed by "Night" which in addition to making the page black and text white, it darkens highlights.

4. The pop up menu for highlights is completely redesign and looks a bit too boney.

5. The note panes have been redesigned as well. The stickies motif is gone and replaced by a much lighter and cleaner rounded cornered bubble-like box. The note indicators on the side also appear smaller, and when they are clicked on, the note arises directly from the highlight rather than the from the side.

6. Font size in menus appear different from before.

7. Full screen toggle under the text control which removes the pretend-edges-and-pages on the margins.

Overall very nice, but I'm a bit bugged by the new highlight color palette, maybe I'm just too sensitive to these UI changes. I was bugged when the Launchpad icons were enlarged but now they look normal.

Does ibooks sync across devices?
I been having troubles reading a book on my iPad, and then picking it where I left off on the iPhone and then switching back.

Is there something I am just missing, or should I be doing something to make it sync?

Also cool update, I'll check it out once I get home

You should check the settings on your iPhone and iPad related to iBook and click on sync bookmarks.

Like the new night mode would love to have that also in Safari.

Full screen mode is also nice but I sorta wish that they had left some type of divider between the pages when in landscape view.

Anyone have books covers that now look like blue PDAs?

I'm not seeing the full screen option on my iPod touch. Can anyone confirm that this is only for the iPad? Would be great on the smaller devices too, but oh well.

I don't like the "night" mode at all. Still doesn't compare to e-ink and not easy on the eyes. It may be "easier" on the eyes then non-night mode but that's really not saying a lot. Still can't read books on my iPad as much as I would love to.

I had some like that also, after the update.
Deleting and reinstalling the books fixed the problem.
