Well lets see...apps freeze randomly, force quit does nothing, Finder hangs nearly everytime I open it, force relaunch doesnt work. Same issues every single time I use my machine. I can reboot and get things normal, but these issues will just pop up immediately. I'm restarting nearly every 30 minutes because the entire system just hangs. I can't take it anymore.

1) this is why you should always buy the apple care plan.
2) how old is your machine?
3) if less than a year, bring it in to an apple store and they'll fix it
4) if you have apple care, call in about it or still take it in, they'll work to fix it. there's more to do than just complain and wait for software updates . . .

What is up with these vague update descriptions? "This update addresses compatibility with Mac OS X."

Well noooooo SH*T. Like there's another operating system it would address issues with?

Why even bother having a description?

"This update addresses compatibility with Mac OS X."

They are getting so lazy with describing their updates....

"This update makes the version number higher than it previously was."

Something is wrong with your machine, and a .2 update probably won't fix it.

Just reinstall your OS. Back up first to be safe, but you shouldn't lose any data or even user settings. Although you could have a hardware problem. But start troubleshooting or take it back to the store, no point in waiting on an OS update that probably is unrelated to the issues you are having.

"This update makes the version number higher than it previously was."

LOL.

Actually, that's pretty good.

I don't use iWeb either, so so much for this update. I'll download it so software update doesn't bother me. ;)

Anyway, on with 10.5.2! I want an end to that Macbook wireless dropout!

1. I have AppleCare
2. It's the first intel iMac model
3. No
4. See #3

This machine has been flawless for every second of everyday of every month and year that I have owned it.

Leopard is the issue, not my machine.

Then just archive and install. You obviously have issues that are not normal.

Anyone else get the feeling Apple's only making you wait for 10.5.2 because they have to update their apps to work with 10.5.2? Apps you don't have/use or can do without if only they'd release dang thing already!

That was my reaction, but what are the chances we'll have idiots here who won't upgrade (some sort of 'stick it to the man' complex) then whine about incompatibilities?

Not working.... when i put iweb into my hd it said your software is up to date someone pleasssse help me:(

Meh. I wish Apple would just redesign iWeb. IMO, iWeb is a horrible and deficient tool if you're between the ages of 15 and 60 and you aren't required to wear a helmet at all times. Otherwise, its fabulous. Its the web-authoring version of Photo Booth.

First, its ridiculous to me that it doesn't have a table editor (Please don't cite convoluted work-arounds. Tables are basic and essential web elements.). Second, the code it actually spits out is as far from parsimony as you can possibly get. Third, I loathe that its deliberately designed so as to frustrate publication of content to anywhere but a .Mac site (i.e. generate the files on my disk, sift through them, scp them to the server, etc.).

The last point is what really tickes me off and is starting to sour me on the brand. Its happening too often lately for my taste (e.g. ATV, Time Capsule, MBA, ...). Steve, here's a tip: a significant enough fraction of your customers aren't afraid of computers. IOW, you don't need to make all of our choices for us. Thanks.

I agree to some extent, the dumbing down of iMovie was a bit harsh.. I'm a big fan of the ATV changes - not so much the TC ones (unless they re-enable air-discs too!)

Saying that, it's not as if there aren't already products for us computer-savvy users. I'd rather Apple catered to the people who need help getting things done, we don't need help getting things done, we have CSSedit/textWrangler/Dreamweaver .. (etc) No product's going to be perfect for everyone. Apple probably shouldn't try to compete with products which would suck their resources to such a huge extent with little benefit to the consumer.

I'm a little nervous about the rush of application updates to be "compatible" with OS X. I wonder which of my other programs are going to fall over because they haven't pushed out an update...

GarageBand has Jam Packs. I'd like to see Template Packs for iWeb.
Can we save our own templates yet? Are there any that don't have the Apple logo at the bottom?
TextEdit - The most stable program on the planet :D
TextEdit-- Apple's leading web development application.
If only iWeb worked on more than 1 website project at the same time. That's a stupid flaw that deserves fixing.
You can work on more than one site, but it lumps them all together in the interface. What I don't like is that just a touch of the backspace key can blow away an entire site...

I'd like iWeb to be a Freeway that works. I find it absurd that designing a website still takes so much hand coding. Compared to typesetting a document, designing a website is trivial. Freeway has the right idea, but falls short on execution. Apple could put Softpress to shame if they set their minds to it.

Dreamweaver is too much for the home user, iWeb is too little. We need a momma bear app.

As much as it freaks me out when a company starts tracking my usage habits, I do kind of wish Apple would figure out that no one is really using iWeb and Automator. Two great concepts that just aren't quite sophisticated enough to be useful.

Strange software update behavior

I cannot seem to get this update through software update. Even stranger, when I check for updates within iWeb, it tells me the 2.0.3 update is available, then when I click the button to "Launch Software Update" from within iWeb, the update still does not show up in software update for some reason.... has it been pulled or something?

Anyone else having this problem?

Is it just me or does iWeb seem snappier?

Can't wait till 10.5.2 though.
Seems right, it is a little quicker on its feet. Have not noticed any other changes yet. Other in Apple forum said that some can't publish bug has been fixed. I did not have that bug so I can't say.

Yes there are ways to make your own templates see 11mystics.com

Sounds like you should check out iweb again, your information is rather old.

I agree that something in between would be nice but like another poster said iweb has a particular public and for those who need it, it is very nice.

Sad, but true.

Dreamweaver is too much for the home user, iWeb is too little. We need a momma bear app.

Bingo. I think the sweet spot is somewhere in between. iWeb is the "hello world" equivalent of web publishing: yay, here's my first, awkward foray into the world of web authoring....now I want to do something useful.

Come to think of it, I think iWeb is basically a product that was frozen in 2004. IOW, before wiki and blog authoring sites became ubiquitous. The mainstream adoption of those tools has rendered iWeb obsolete, especially if you don't have a .mac account. Its in dire need of a redesign. IMO, it could really benefit from some obvious improvements (e.g. the table issue) that would require minimal resource investment on Apple's part.

So what other system is it compatible with

That means that they are getting all these apps updated to work with 10.5.2. They are not going to say, "Improves compatibility with OS X 10.5.2" because it isn't even out yet, so they just say OS X. Don't fear, these are good signs that it is coming soon.

There is something wrong obviously. Seriously everyone I know running Leopard, which is a lot of people, are running it just fine, including myself. The only people I hear with so many problems with Leopard are a few in these forums... seriously. So there must be something wrong with your machine or something.

I agree. That would be nice! Not enough too choose from, IMO.

I'd LOVE to have packaging templates for disc and DVD case labels that match the themes in iDVD. There is a third party app that does it but its like $50.00 lol. I HATE having all these nice DVDs in unlabeled crappy cases. I want them to look nice like the DVDs do.
