I never understand though why MacRumors relegates Logic Pro announcements to the Mac blog when every tiny iOS announcement gets front page treatment.

I'd imagine that a logic update would be of interest to maybe <1% of site visitors, but an iOS update to 90%+?

Hmm... now I get to rethink my storage again. I defaulted to having a full Logic install on the internal ssd (256), because moving the library around was such a mess.

The UI update will probably come around on a .5 release... which seems to come out early in the new year.

And I just have to echo what everyone else says about Logic being the best Apple software. To me it's a great combo of customization, Apple design polish and incredible value. There are certainly features I like in other DAWs.

I'm surprised there has been so many free updates, and that there hasn't been a Logic Pro for iPad Pro push yet. Maybe garageband is good enough for iPad users.

File this under "about time" and "why couldn't you have told me this 3 weeks ago when I purchased my new MacBook Pro with a tiny drive?"

I did all that goofy SYSLINK garbage for hours to locate the sounds on another disk already. Glad they updated it, though.

Uh? My Library is already on a 500GB SSD... maybe they made the process less clunky?
You could but the sound library manager would show all the content as uninstalled. At least for me...

Those are some serious updates. No more "hacks" to move sound library to an external drive. Tempo detection! Really weird that they didn't add a proper Dark UI though, but I'm guessing that is a pretty tall order given how much non standard UI is in there.

Isn't Logic dark enough as it is?
[doublepost=1538151716][/doublepost]Can you move the instrument library as well? That takes up a lot of disk space too.

Moving the sound library is a rather blunt tool. It doesn't allow moving only certain parts, just the whole library.

I'd prefer to just move the loops and keep the instruments.

I don't know your UNIX knowledge but it takes about ten minutes as I did it myself. Or I could have written a sed/awk script and do it more judiciously.

Yep, in agreement – Logic is pretty amazing!

I do wonder if Apple will make a more pro music iOS app at any point as well, that would be pretty cool! Maybe they're waiting for the iPad's hardware to get better first though...

Logic is hands down THE BEST software for Mac...EVER!!! Apple bought German DAW company eMagic in 2002 to establish the basis for Logic. Since then Logic has become both more powerful, easier to use, and more affordable. Couple that with being able to use GarageBand as a front end to Logic, and it is almost too good to be true.
The sound library on an external drive has been possible via 3rd party Apps and user gymnastics. Glad to see it being made easier.

I have a feeling that the team from emagic is still developing Logic. Well except for those how worked on the windows version ;)
