We can expect these to be in the stores until the 12" Macbook Air replaces both in 6 months..
The 12" will clearly replace just the 11" model, and will have exactly the same size. The only difference will be much smaller display margin.

Take that $100 price drop and put it into 8 GB of RAM. You may not really need it now, but that day when you do and you can't upgrade it, ouch. I could probably get by on 128 GB of storage since I don't think I would plan on this being my primary computer. But I could always attach a TB external drive. I can't attach external RAM.

Alas, since I'm broke and can't really justify a new notebook with a Windows one that's working fine for the $250 it set me back, this is just eye candy. I also don't want to buy when I know retina models are in the pipe in the near future.

In the past Apple has done things for people that recently bought an "old" model. Do I just call them to see if they are doing anything like that again?

Was it within the last fourteen days? If so, you might be in with a shot. There have been a couple isolated times when Apple has offered something - sometimes store credit - for something purchased within a month, but my memory is fuzzy on the details. It's only going to cost you the time (and maybe money) to make a phone call! =)

Too bad about the displays…

…but I guess it will change like the rumor says. It's taking a bit long, though.

So the new 12" MBA will come at 1099$

All the new retina macbook airs due out later this year will come in £100/$100 dearer (back to yesterdays price). No one will want the current non retina model so we'll be back to square one. Its a price drop to shift the current stock. Smart move apple. Less profit but sell more equals more profit.

This will be the last update to non retina MBA, so at WWDC we will have the new 12" MBA

Hell, New Zealand's prices have dropped by NZ$300!

You mean between $190 and $250 depending on the model.

That was the June 2013 Airs that just got discontinued?

£849 new yesterday, £599 today in the refurb store.

$100 Off.....Couldn't ask for anything better than that.

Only $100 different in price between the 2.3Gig Mac Mini and base 11-inch

The choice is in-twining.

Now the Macbook Air looks tempting with students discounts on top of the price drop  - first time a top of the range Macbook is under £1,000 :D
