As predicted, Apple has updated their Remote app that allows iOS users to control iTunes and their Apple TV from their devices. The app hadn't been updated for nearly a year, but has finally received a 2.0 update that brings support for the iPad, Retina display and new Apple TV. New features listed include:
- Designed for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
- Optimized for Retina displays and large screen real estate on iPad
- Support for Shared Libraries on iTunes and new Apple TV
- Bug fixes and compatibility with iTunes 10 and the new Apple TV
The new Apple TV has begun shipping already and should arrive in customer's hands later this week.

Finally a 2.0 upgrade! Will check it out and see how it pans out.

EDIT:
Hmmm. Update not showing up, but yet the new updated remote app (along with the ugly iTunes icon) shows up in the iTunes store.

Bravo, almost 10 months since the iPad was announced and this is finally upgraded. 🙄

This is a textbook example of how not to do something.

I'm getting some very weird stuff going on with the app. First I couldn't find it in the store, now it shows up both on my Mac and on my iPhone but when I download it, it shows the new icon, but then changes to the old one. Tried a hard reset and it's still giving me the old app, despite it saying I'm downloading the new version and showing the new icon when it installs. Oh and no updates for the app show. Weird.

Ah, but can you stream from your computer iTunes library to your iPod/iPhone in a dock?

Biggest missing feature.
